jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Reds got a good deal Agreed, especially if Lamb and Finnegan pan out. If so, the Reds could be right back into contention quickly.
baubau Verified Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Reds got a good deal For me, if you are a team with a rental player and have no intentions/hope of extending him, getting anything back is a plus. I would hope AA is a seller as this team isn't going to make it or make it far into the playoffs and ship out the Papa Buly but I doubt it.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 That is quite the haul. I'm not a KC fan, so Im glad they got bent over.

Remember people handing the A's the paper world series last year after acquiring Lester? The Royals will probably get bounced in the DS in 4 at this point. Remember the 116 win Mariners? Out without a wimper to a far inferior Yankee squad in the ALCS. S many 100 win teams bounced out early over the years, it really isn't even funny.
awsomest Verified Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 @ESPNola81 @SNBarryDavis It doesn't matter. As @ShiDavidi reported, #Reds ask of #Bluejays started with Stroman. I mean if the jays don't feel like its worth it to trade for cueto fine, but don't use your media arm to shove ******** at the fans.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I like it for KC's side none of those guys are especially good. Finnegan has terrible mechanics and won't start.

I mean, you still have Guthrie, a soon to regress Young, a inconsistent Ventura, an erratic Duffy, and Volquez.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Royals are 10 games over .500 and leading their division, they think this move makes them WS contenders. We'll see what happens.

How many people are going to outright criticize their own employer. Anyways it doesn't matter, we didn't have the mid level prospects that the Royals had to acquire Cueto But yes the ******** has to stop.

With the playoff format and the lack of predictability in a short sample size of baseball, there is no such thing as WS contenders IMO. Only playoff contenders.

Sanchez, Boyd, and Brentz would probably have been our equivalent of that package. Not really much value KC got IMO.

baloojayz Verified Member Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Huge overpay for a rental, especially considering the Royals have zero shot of resigning him. It'll only be worth it if they win the World Series.. It's ridiculous when you think about it. They traded Wil Myers and Jake Odorizzi for Shields, let Shields go to FA and now they are giving up prospects for 2 months of Cueto. Jays should learn from this, it's not worth it to go for it one year over the other. Great teams are built over years and in the offseason.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Dave Gershman The player whose medicals didn't satisfy Cincinnati was in fact Bubba Starling, who Reds covet. Would have been one of main pieces in deal.
