Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Why do people think that someone has to be fired or sent to AAA to "send a message"? Its idiotic... The team knows they're playing like s***. No need to "send a message", they're likely more angry than we are at the losses.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 I'm calling it...by next Sunday he will be fired I'll bet against you on that
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Gibbons will have until at least the all star break. Shatkins is probably semi-glad they're losing so they can blow it up and rebuild in their image.

Shatkins is probably semi-glad they're losing so they can blow it up and rebuild in their image. With the impending free agency of Bautista and Encarnacion, they were going to have to make changes anyways so I don't see what's so great about not winning in the interim and since the Martin and Tulo deals aren't going anywhere, it's not like a full rebuild is even possible. There's no reason for this team to be in anything other than win-now mode and even next year should be more about a re-tooling in a more sustainable way than tearing it down.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 I'll bet against you on that If he isn't fired by next Sunday I will not post in any thread except for the Homerun Contest for a week....cause imo that means we would have started winning games again, probably at least 5

We have enough good pieces going forward we should be able to re-tool or go for win now mode for at least the next 5-7 years

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 LOL Letting Goins hit for himself is just f***ing lol he had to bring Martin in the game anyways, since he pinched hit Dominguez for Thole. Do people realize how f***ing stupid this is. Goins vs LHP
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 It is difficult to defend Goins batting in that situation but it just indicates how bad Martin has been. Martin has almost a 50% strike out percentage.

Anyways it doesn't matter team has too many broken f***ing chains

Changing a laid back manager like Gibbons can sometimes change the atmosphere in the dugout.....right now this team looks like they expect to lose imo.
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Barney would have been a better choice. There must be something wrong with Martin's health otherwise he would have played the entire game.

While I know he is hurt it's hard for me to believe that he cant swing the bat but can do the much harder job of catching
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 While I know he is hurt it's hard for me to believe that he cant swing the bat but can do the much harder job of catching Martin has struck out in 46.3% of plate appearances this season and has looked very bad while doing it - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=4616&position=C As someone with back pain, Martin looks very stiff to me and that could explain his hitting problems. It wouldn't surprise me if Martin is soon put on the DL.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Doesn't have Goins bunt 1-1 game, man on 1st, no outs, 7th inning Then has Carrera, not Martin, pinch hit for Thole Gibby an idiot
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Doesn't have Goins bunt 1-1 game, man on 1st, no outs, 7th inning Then has Carrera, not Martin, pinch hit for Thole Gibby an idiot Especially considering that just yesterday we won BC he pinched hit for Goins and the day before we lost because he didn't pinch hit for Goins Anyways EE Bautista and Tulo all look finished. There is no putting make up on this pig. Let's please tank and start over
KinofChaos Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Not bunting for Goins tonight, another bone headed call by Gibby,
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 yeah, because epic execution of bunting skills by Goins ...
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Goins is not a MLB player, so let's blame him for the manager playing him everyday when there is an option on the bench that is better. Makes sense.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Gibby is all around bad but I think so is this team.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 Osuna in the 8th when losing. Then we walk it off. Very few managers make that move. Especially not "old school" managers. It was dumb, but not bunting Pillar to 3rd with 0 outs was worse. If Gibby kept Osuna in for the 9th it's a good move...bringing in a guy who hasn't pitched in a week and is an after thought in the pen, was not smart...but we won so it doesn't matter

Which it was. Using your closer in a tough, non-save situation is something more managers should do.
