havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 lmao now he brings in Mark Lowe. Is this f***ing guy serious?
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) I've been shamelessly a Gibbons defender in the past, but holy f***. The moves he's made today and in the past few games are indefensible. Edited October 21, 2015 by Captain Adama
over500 Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 took 10 years but someone has finally passed Sam Mitchell as the worst to coach a Toronto sports team Sam Mitchell isn't even the worst coach in raptors history. Get out.
Statman Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 If I am Mark Shapiro I don't bring back Gibbons to manage this team.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I've been shamelessly a Gibbons defender in the past, but holy f***. The moves he's made today and in the past are indefensible. I've defended him over and over, but I no longer can find any reason to continue doing so.
JohnnyLonghorn Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Gibby pouring salt in the wounds
Statman Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I've defended him over and over, but I no longer can find any reason to continue doing so. I have never witnessed such incompetence from a manager in the postseason. Beyond comprehension.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 There's really no way AA fires gibby right after an ALCS appearance right?
candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 30 pitches for Lowe in a 10 run game. Fire Gibbons
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Wow, seems my thread has taken off once some people opened their eyes lol. Postseason history!!!!!! First position player ever to pitch. Great job Gibby lol
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Wow, seems my thread has taken off once some people opened their eyes lol. Postseason history!!!!!! First position player ever to pitch. Great job Gibby lol lmfao This was the worst managed game of the season and now you want to start patting your back? Yeah you can gtfo with that.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Babe Ruth pitched in the 1918 World Series Broadcast said the first full time position player to pitch. I assume Ruth was still pitcher on occasion that year, haven't looked though.
ProfessionalAtBat Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Pennington still pitch better than Hawkins ... He got an out at least 😅 good job Giggitty Gibbons
tercet Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Do any of you ppl have any clue what variance is?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Gibby wastes Price up 7 thinking the other team can come back, but will concede the game down 3 with the best offense in baseball. lol
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Do any of you ppl have any clue what variance is? Very much so. Variance won't save us with the idiot we have as a manager.
tercet Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Very much so. Variance won't save us with the idiot we have as a manager. Well evidently you don't by your post above
candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Do any of you ppl have any clue what variance is? Absolutely. However, that doesn't apply here.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Well evidently you don't by your post above It's not even a variance anymore, it has become the mean with Gibbons regarding poor bullpen management. Today it really, really came to a head.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Babe Ruth pitched in the 1918 World Series wasn't he a still a pitcher at that point? Babe Ruth was a starter to begin his career so he wouldn't be considered an out and out position player.
candymartinez Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Putting in Lowe for 30 pitches in a ten run game when they have to win 3 in a row has nothing to do with variance.
tercet Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) He makes the correct decision more often then not, stop complaining over such a standard spot that simply went bad(lol variance). Hawkins and Tepera are competent 7th bullpen arms, they had bad outings. We did not lose this series over these decisions. Shutup Edited October 20, 2015 by tercet learn 2 variance

Today it really, really came to a head. we were in trouble no matter what because dIck went less than 2 innings. we don't have 7+ innings in our pen with everyone rested never mind with some guys having thrown yesterday.

tercet Verified Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Absolutely. However, that doesn't apply here. Hm yes it does, learn 2 variance
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 That was unbelievable. You're down 3, bases loaded, none out. Your season hangs in the balance. And you bring in Ryan Tepera. No words. I was so puzzled at the game today. Gibbons feels it's important to use Sanchez and Lowe with a 9-4 lead though in a close 3 run game he decides to turn to Hawkins and Tepera? I'm lost for words right now. And Lowe is used instead in the 8th in a blowout when the game was far out of reach. You're telling me losing 5-2 in the 7th and holding the score isn't as important as using Sanchez and Lowe with a 9-4 lead yesterday. Ugh
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 we were in trouble no matter what because dIck went less than 2 innings. we don't have 7+ innings in our pen with everyone rested never mind with some guys having thrown yesterday. Well yeah I should've included yesterday in this as well. Using four relievers up by 7 runs is just as bad as his debacle today. And yeah Dickey deserves no less blame in this either because of Gibby's shenanigans.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Yes, of course. But he played more games as a position player (only pitched in 20 games)... this trivia question depends on how you define "position player." I'm pretty sure they said Pennington was the first out and out position player to pitch in post season. he'd never thrown a pitch professionally before.... back in the day (10s 20s-end of WWII) lots of pitchers played a position as well. they were just the best players on the team and were used as much as possible.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 He makes the correct decision more often then not, stop complaining over such a standard spot that simply went bad(lol variance). Regarding decisions, how about the one to use four of our top relievers when we were up by 7 runs in the 8th and 9th innings?
