Followthelight Verified Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 When your starters give you 7 innings most of the time and Sanchez and Osuna are your 8th and 9th inning guys, there needs to be a special situation for others to be brought in. Clearly this was one of those situations but i guess Gibby didn't feel that way. This "One guy is always the eighth inning guy" despite the situation is backwards outdated thinking. Sanchez has been used a lot lately, and he is a contact pitcher who throws mainly 1 pitch. The WORST guy to put in tat spot. Why no use the guy we traded for, who is a strikeut pitcher when we neded one, keep sanchez fresh?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Gibby is a moron. Runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out - you need a strikeout. There's absolutely no excuse for not using Lowe in that situation. Gibby screwed up royally.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 You mean Lowe the guy that already blew one game and has really s***** career numbers? You say that like Sanchez is Mo Rivera. Lowe has pitched significantly better this year than Sanchez has in his entire career.

Gibby will learn from doing that again.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Gibby will learn from doing that again. you sure about that?
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 you sure about that? T.B.H. 75 percent sure . He used bad judgement.Considering how deep Price has been going in his starts, and its late in the season, and a hot muggy day,Price should have never started the 8th. Sanchez,Hawkins,or Lowe could have.

Statman Verified Member Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 what did he do now, I missed most of the game Bautista derping defensively, selfish at bats by the entire team, MB sucking and being pulled for Schultz and sucking is apparently Gibbons fault.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 what did he do now, I missed most of the game Gibbons was being Gibbons. A manager that makes decisions based on hunches and old school mentality. Rinse and repeat.

Bo Schultz was the wrong move. C'mon Man! You just got back into the game in the top half of the inning. A shut down inning is needed. Bo Schultz is an extreme fly ball pitcher...your #7 arm in the pen. Not the situation to use him. And you have an off day tomorrow so worrying about taxing arms is not a good argument. End of story...

If you can't use him for an inning or two down a couple runs, than he should not be on the roster. 7th man or not, he has pitched decent this year, not great, but okay. He hadn't pitched in forever.

He hadn't pitched in forever. It's a pennant race in late August. If you can avoid using your least effective reliever in a close game, then you do it. Being concerned about not being used in a while is a non factor now. The fact that there is a day off tomorrow with Hendriks and Lowe well rested, there was no reason in using Shultz, especially after your offence woke up. Gibby used Shultz tonight like the score was 7-2 after four instead of 4-2. It was a dumb move period.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I'll give you guys the Price game cause even I thought Gibbons completely s*** the bed there, but he didn't do anything wrong this game. Players played bad blame them.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 what did he do now, I missed most of the game The Jays lost, and he's the manager. That's what he did wrong. When they lose, it's his fault, when they win it's despite him. Get with the program!

JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Well I'll admit that I am bias because I don't like Bo Schultz. Gibbons had other options then him and sure enough my nightmare came to realization. So ya, I was pissed at Gibbons.

We should have a 7-man pen and 1 more bench player.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Schultz is definitely redundant on this roster. We should have a 7-man pen and 1 more bench player. Don't they have a 7-man pen? I think many of you are overreacting and pinning this loss on Gibbons is a bit much. You can't expect our bp to shutdown 5 innings/game back to back and if they did, then OK it's a tie game. FYI we got 2 runs late in the game without getting a hit, we were lucky the score wasn't worse. The team played awful.
