Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 Maybe if you guys weren't idiots it would make more sense. We all can't stay drunk like you......lmao
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 f*** you and your s***** lineups Gibbons!
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I'd like to see Boxcar defend this one
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I'd like to see Boxcar defend this one What exactly is he defending this time? Navarro's not playing today but you've found something else to complain about. Is it because Goins is in left? Wait.....you want Smoak instead of Collabello?
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 i'd put carrera in LF and smoak at first....
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Gibbons some how finds a way to get Ryan f***ing Goins in the lineup but can't get Smoak in there? f***ing ludacris.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 and not even playing Goins at SS where all his value will come from, this guy is truly an idiot.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 i'd put carrera in LF and smoak at first.... Colabello is out-projecting Smoak at this point, so I'd rather have him at first. Carrera absolutely butchered that play in left yesterday.....looked outright lazy on it.....I have no problem with benching him over that. Plus it will be fun to watch Goins somehow turn a double play from LF.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 They don't need offense so they went with their best defender in LF, I don't see what the big deal is.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Sorry did I just hear Goins is in LF Is this true
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 They don't need offense so they went with their best defender in LF, I don't see what the big deal is. Goins has had success against Bucholz, so I think they found a way to put him in the lineup for that reason. They aren't gonna sit Travis or Reyes, and obviously Goins isn't going to be slotted in as the DH.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Goins had reps in the OF this season. There's no problem putting him there. And BTW, Zeke sucks in the OF.. one of AA's trade deadline moves should be for another OF(depending on Saunders' health), along with pitching.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 They don't need offense so they went with their best defender in LF, I don't see what the big deal is. This isn't true. They need wins. What if they lose 3-2 tonight?? Maybe with Colabello in left and Smoak at first they win 4-3. What I am saying is this. It is stupid to say Jays need defense. They need wins. I don't give a f*** if it is 15-11, or 2-1. It does not matter to me as long as Jays win. As far as I can tell Ryan Goins does not contribute to wins as a left fielder. I haven't looked at the fan graphs but... Joe carter was a losing left fielder in his later year... take Joe Carter in his later year, make his on base percentage even lower, take away 90% of his homeruns and 70% of his RBIs I don't see how that could be a winning player. No matter how good his defense.

DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 This isn't true. They need What if Colabello or Carrera can't get to an easy ball and extend an inning. What if that taxes the BP enough that you have to bring in Cecil in a save situation. There are so many what ifs; fact of the matter is it probably isn't going to matter.

Maybe Goins cuts a ball off in the gap to hold Mookie to a single instead of a double. See what I did there?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Hey Olerud, guess what. Maybe Goins makes a diving catch in LF to win the game 4-3. See what I did there? But what if Goins struck out with the bases loaded while the game was still 3-3 and we could've taken the lead, preventing that situation from happening? Games are not won and lost on individual plays. Olerud is right. We need wins.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Smoak and Carrera will be on the bench and can come in the game at any time. I was making a general point.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 We're talking one scrub vs another scrub. It's negligible.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I was making a general point. So was I. My general point was that the majority of Olerud's posts contain hypothetical scenarios that we have no control over. What if's and maybe's don't hold much weight in an argument.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 goins in LF, smoak being locked in the closet, schultz and redmond over hendricks on the BP depth charts. my patience is wearing thin

And I'm 90% sure Smoak is hurting or something. And, we don't actually have a left fielder on the team right now.

And, we don't actually have a left fielder on the team right now. I really want to believe that smoak is hurt, either that or AA is packaging navarro and prospects for a pitcher. I mean I want to believe these things but I'm finding it more and more plausible that gibby is just playing his favorites.

If Smoak was playing occasionally, I'd buy Gibbons being f***ing weird about s***, but he's played what? 5 innings on D and had maybe 2 ABs in the past 2 weeks? Probably more than that, I haven't watched every game, but it's been so incredibly low that something must be going on, he was on a tear for a while there too...

So why haven't we heard/read about this injury?
