get it out of your system people.

Just dont bring it to the GDT tomorrow.

Why not? It would blend in well with the rest of the crap GDT posts.

They've been unreadable, just like the ones on the original board.

Not surprised though, it's mostly the same posters.

Wow, no words.

The pen is horrible, you can "no word" me all you want, but you know it's true. Only Osuna is reliable (so far). Cecil screwed up 2 times already and Loup/Hendricks blow. Castro is not ready for the bigs, as seen tonight.

Our lineup is ok, our starters are so-so, but the pen is HORRIBLE. There's no way that we could potentially contend with this s*** pen. Thanks, AA.

I think Toronto's rotation sans Stroman is pretty bad. Hutch is probably the only above average starter.

Who was available?

Neal Cotts, Jason Grilli, Joba Chamberlain, Luke Gregerson, Pat Neshek, maybe Andrew Miller but that one's probably a bad idea in the long run.

We've got a solid 2 (Hutchison) and a acceptable 4,5 (MB, Dickey) Sanchez is not really more than bullpen pitcher at this point. Norris needs more time, but looks like he could be a 4. So we lose our 4 next year when MB leaves and hopefull Norris can take his spot.

next year

Stro

Hutch

trade/FA

Norrs

Dickey.

Definitely see Hoffman getting a chance, depends on how he does in the Spring though.

Poverty bullpen=poverty results.

Everyone knew bullpen was an issue coming into the season and we all waited for it to be addressed. AA's solution was to put in 2 guys in the pen that should be in the minors as starters.

Gibbons should have been aware that Loney was on the bench, pulling Cecil gave Tampa a more favourable matchup and pulling Osuna after he struck out the first two also didn't make a lot of sense.

Sad thing is in AA this franchise wasted another 6 years on top of the 8 wasted by jpr and the 8 wasted by Ash

Lol longest starved playoff franchise in professional sports. There are jays fans graduating with their undergrad this year that have not seen a meaningful mlb game with the Jays in it

Yeah pretty much sums up the situation.

Can't fix stupid.

You wanna elaborate to actually add to the discussion or are you satisfied with just being an internet tough guy?

It's not Gibbons fault that Cecil and Castro failed last night. Those 3 are the jays best relievers.

Just didn't work out. It's a loss. Let it go and move on to today.

Osuna and Cecil didn't fail. You're right about Castro though.

Yeah it's only Four losses in eighteen games

Chum change

Edit: 5 losses due to the pen

Osuna didn't fail, Cecil didn't fail, and Hendriks didn't fail on Thursday. When you have a manager you removes relievers after they allow weak groundballs that happen to find holes, and then brings in someone who everyone except the manager knows isn't ready (Castro), it's hard to blame the relievers.

Gibbons is straight up trash. Come on, it's not hard to see.

Yeah over-managed the crap out of that. We don't have the guys to be doing that sort of thing.

didn't Hendricks let 4 out of 5 guys he faced reach base on Thursday?

While I agree with you, the BP isn't the strongest, it is very capable of winning games. Yesterday was just Gibby trying to be too cute IMO. Cecil doesn't have overpowering stuff to bring him in as a specialist. Osuna was doing fine. Ended up rushing in both Cecil and Castro. If you think of the high leverage innings RP put in, rushing guys into games cannot possibly be advantageous in the long run.

Just following your commenting format, how does it feel?

They were not hard hit balls, and the team had a 5 run lead. Gibbons practically had Castro warming up when Hendriks gave up his first baserunner. It was embarrassing to watch.

John Farrell is a better manager. Seriously. I'm not joking.

Andrew Miller got a lot of money but has looked like an absolute ace reliever so far. Even Gregerson would have been a very useful addition. I'm not saying they should go crazy on the bullpen but all they really needed was one established reliever.

It's the same old story, hoping the stars align and the bullpen fixes itself, doesn't sound like a good strategy for a team that is supposed to contend.

I was thinking this same thing yesterday. Pretty soon it will be all about a little group of whiners ranting and raving in their mistaken belief that they really know how to run a baseball team successfully. There is little discussion on baseball or even sharing of opinions, just a lot of immaturity. Just like high school days where the in-thing is for kids to group together and giggle at stupidness and call others names like fatty, idiot, moron etc.

Well I got my rant out but at least I kept it out of the GDT. ;)

Who was available?

That is not a relevant question and so also would be a follow up question like what else would have to be given up to obtain a good replacement In the ranting and raving mode there is no room for reasoning, only room for knee-jerk reactions.

Only cuz he has not failed so far but just wait till he gives up games and you will be all over him, the manager, the GM, and the coaches. On the other hand you, and the knee-jerkers, have nothing negative to say about the Jays taking a chance with inexperience at 2B cuz so far he has been terrific.

To be fair I personally think there is a bit of a difference between 24 year old travis and the two 20 year olds. In regards to age over experience of course. I also think the bp should be easier to fix/build around compared to finding a solid position player. (where we've lacked for years)
