Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Id much rather play a WC team than Texas +1 - how on earth don't people see the reason they need to push for 1st in the AL East?
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Texas, outside of their momentum, doesn't scare me. Though I would agree simply because a WC team can't throw their ace out game #1 (typically) They have a great lineup and Gallardo has owned us. They don't really scare me either, but if I have to face them I'd rather it be in the ALCS than ALDS. Plus, as Gov mentioned eliminating the Ace is a huge advantage
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Not too sure on his option options G-Snarls. He has disappointed. And how did Delabar ever get this bad after 2013?!! Got a little momento for my son and I in TOR paper on Monday. Wall hanger in his room. Will be much better to have if we win WS!! But I think he will still remember being at JD's walk off on Sunday for the rest of his life. That's pretty awesome man. Get that baby in a frame!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Scared of injury obv, that's still ridiculous. He can line up perfectly for Game #1 with his usual start Seriously though Give him 5 innings against Tampa He won't pitch again until next Thursday WTF Gibby???
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 No price until the postseason per Gibby.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I'd only be happy to win the AL crown if the Astros bwat the Yanks.
bowld Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I am all for celebrating the division win but last night's lineup and today's mean we are basically giving up our lead for home field throughout. Not a fan

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Give Buehrle the CG for his 200 IP
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I put 20 bucks on the orioles today when they released the line. It has since jumped 30 cents in favour of Baltimore
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Ben Nicholson-Smith @bnicholsonsmith 4m4 minutes ago David Price will not start again during regular season, #BlueJays manager John Gibbons told @FAN590 (h/t @TAMacKenzie) Not sure I understand this one... Stupid. The trick to playoff success is not deviating from your winning routine.

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Stupid. The trick to playoff success is not deviating from your winning routine. Thats what I'm worried about. I wanted them to continue to roll right into the playoffs. Not take a break and throw games away
SexyNewForum Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 It's like every managing decision I would make Gibby does the complete opposite. You can still DH guys today and play them 1b. We should be going for home field and THEN I could care less if they rolled out the junior bisons. There's still lots on the line in my mind. Although I would probably still get the guys ABs in a few innings to keep them hot. Rotate Them into DH that's what that spot is there for! And sitting price !! Why not throw him out for a few innings? Keep him in rhythm God we make dumb decisions

Keep him in rhythm God we make dumb decisions First if your only throwing Price for a few innings what is wrong with doing Bullpens like they are going to do with him. Less chance of him getting hurt and he gets his work. Secondly since August the regulars have basically got zero time off and considering we will still have the lead on KC for first in the AL with 3 games left and them having a hotter opponent. Its not like this is incredibly unorthodox move this late in the season we have been blessed with the ability to give our guys rest. Nothing wrong with taking it.

We face some good pitching this weekend though, and we've been historically bad at the Trop. I dont mind resting them this game, but mailing it in with 5 to go is pretty risky. As Expos said, deviating from your winning routine is a dangerous right before the playoffs
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Better f***ing pound the cover off the ball vs Rays....shutting down Price and dressing the Bisons, i get it....but seriously the Dome is a real homefield advantage...this is the first time this season it feels like the Jays are not giving a s***. Whats that, 11-12 days rest for Price? Will need to throw a sim game or maybe something is up. Last start he wasnt the Price that was expected

Which if thats the case might as well just have him throw bullpens so he stays sharp. I just think that after a night of partying give the guys a day off to recoup and get ready for the final stretch drive. 2 days off in 3 days would do a lot for these guys.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 This line up again and shutting down Price all seems a bid odd. I don't see bullpen sessions and live game action for 5 IP as the same thing. Especially given we have more home wins than any other team...so its clearly an advantage. But AA and Gibby have gotten us this far, so I have to just trust that they know what they are doing.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I thought they would go price Stroman sat sun to set up for round 1
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 How much does Hutch hate life right now? Opening day starter for the best team in the AL - and there's a 0% chance he's ever on the playoff roster. That's gotta suck man. If the Jays win the WS - does Hutch "feel" like a champion?
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 It's legitimately possible that some of the regulars were still blasted at game time this afternoon. It's probably a likelihood, actually.

EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 As I said in the other thread I think rotating half of our starters for 2nd game yesterday and half today respectively would have been a wiser decision that would have gave us a better chance to win both. I get that our starters need rest and that we partied hard (but I don't think the other teams that clinched and partied did the same thing, did they?), and I was fine with Dickey going 5 yesterday, but I definitely didn't like this mailing it in with 100% AAA team thing either... definitely doesn't seem like something a team that is really interested in finishing first overall seed would do. Along with that Price decision (to not start him again this year) it does seem like Gibby is much more concerned about being cautious of injuries/resting guys, maybe even being too overcautious.
EMK19 Verified Member Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 It's legitimately possible that some of the regulars were still blasted at game time this afternoon. It's probably a likelihood, actually. What did the Mets, Dodgers, KC, Cards, etc do with their lineup the day after they clinched though? Cuz I'm sure players in those teams got blasted as well. Did they go the same route as ours in fielding the AAA team? I get putting out the "league cup squad" (to anyone who knows Soccer well, heh) in the second game of the double header but I was real surprised when we did it again for today... that along with the selection of pitchers today after Hutch out of the pen it made it blatantly obvious that Gibby didn't give a rat's ass about winning today at all. And shutting down Price for the season IMO also kind of hints at the fact that they're not serious at all about being first overall, either. But I guess if that's the route they have elected to take, taking playing it safe rest of the way over risking it a bit to seriously go for first overall, then I guess let them be.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 He's still gettin paid no matter how he performs. We must be in the wrong profession... This isn't really true. There are plenty of everyday people who mail it in on a daily basis and still get paid. His poor performance this year will cost him money next year (just like it should in most professions). The key is to join a union....the majority of them mail it in and get raised despite their poor performance!
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Not sure if this was ever caught in the Tulo thread, but I was browsing through the Donaldson trade thread and found this... Alright AA, now get Troy Tulowitzki for Reyes without trading Stroman, Sanchez and Pompey. You can do this. http://blacksportsonline.com/index/5yvj8o.gif And jesus I just lost like 300 posts lol.
