Getting a coaching/managing job is more about networking, who you know and being in the right place at the right time. Just because a guy plays a lot of baseball, or plays high level baseball, or has been around the game a long time, it doesn't mean he's a smart man. I don't question his experience or the fact he knows a lot about baseball, but some of his decisions are borderline retarded. Yesterday is a good example. I don't see any possible defense to that strategy last night. He was setting this team up to fail.

Networking certainly plays a role...but only in the context of...there's a hundred people out there that are presumably qualified...as a GM, maybe I hire the guy that didn't try to feel my wife up at a Christmas party last year.

Just because you're connected and know a GM, or some people in baseball that doesn't mean you're going to be preferred if you're a nitwit. At this level, you have to be knowledgeable about the game, and know how to manipulate and work it, in order to get a sniff at a ML managing job.

Red Sox probables:

Wade Miley vs. Marcus Stroman

Dickey vs. Porcello

Buehrle vs. Rich Hill (no joke!)

No Joe Kelly--done for the year due to arm fatigue, and no Tazawa either (innings limit).

Yeah it looks like they are a bad team but I wouldn't take them lightly. As much as I hate their team and think they suck they still have Ortiz/Bogaerts/Pedroia/Sandoval who are threats. Jackie Bradley and Castillo could be decent hitters. I just don't think they are a total pushover team despite their record. The Braves however are a horrible team and it was a shame the Jays couldn't get to the pen last night.

Yep. Can't take the Sox lightly after the disaster in Boston.

3rd best offense in the AL. Jays are 1st so they can...stick it.

The Red Sox series will be fun to watch. Hopefully the Blue Jays can take 2 of 3 (or better).

Watching condensed '92 World Series. What an awful throw in the 9th by Maldonado lol, way into the backstop, netting. He was only average LF IMO. Defensively speaking. And he almost missed the catch before.

Didn't realize we had so many doctors on this forum.

Jays FO constantly downplays the severity of injuries. Saunders, Travis, Buehrle this year, Bautista, Lind, Edwin, Janssen, Reyes, Johnson, Melky etc. in the past.

Bennis just said he'd take Hawkins over Hendriks on the playoff roster. And that Hendriks "shouldn't pitch in high leverage situations." LOL

Really, that quote should have been "it's not lying if you people don't need to know the truth."
