bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Martin needs to be catching Dickey from here on out with Tulo injured. Goins,Pennington, pillar and thole aren't going to get it done.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Better question with Tulo injured and hopefully back for the playoffs, but what if he's not! Can we afford to mess Martin up especially his bat, do you leave Navarro of the roster and carry thole just to catch dickey?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Yeah Miller is reallllly good and all it takes is one lucky homer and they win. Way too many l's. Shelby Miller is pretty decent, 3.94 xFIP with non-outstanding peripherals. Perhaps worthy to note is that he's allowed a .272 BABIP in 552 innings of MLB experience, and while it is still too early to judge, he's absolutely beat his DIPS metrics by a wide margin in every year. Something to look out for and see if he sustains it going forward (unlikely).

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 if you live close to a border city you can get it shipped to a holding location for 5 bucks. But when you factor in the dollar and the time for all that you may as well just buy it off the Canadian site.

I am waiting for him to put it all together, we all know about his former prospect status and when you watch him his stuff seems very good a la Sanchez (not saying Sanchez is anywhere near as good). I checked, he's using his cutter way more and his GB rate has increased... he could continue to improve. Although yes he's not pitching like a 2.xx ERA pitcher.

According to pitchFX, he's using the 4-seam, 2-seam, and cut fastballs in almost equal proportion (32%, 35%, and 20%). Compare to 62% 4-seamers last year.

Ehjays Verified Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Is that for the Jays?? If so, Thats 250,000 more seats sold right off the hop.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 So Jayfan2014 said there was no chance we'd see Tanaka in the last series vs the Yanks. Not sure he is right. Tanaka can pitch Fri and then in TO.

Don't forget, he still has an elbow that could blow any minute.. he needs the extra rest. Pineda and Nova are scheduled to pitch Friday and Saturday. Don't forget, Girardi needs to aim Tanaka for the wild card game, which likely means he misses the Jays series.

Last I checked Tanaka pitched Sunday against us on "short rest." Now I'm not saying with certainty that Tanaka will pitch against us but I sure as hell wouldn't be surprised if he did. Guys get moved around their regularly scheduled rotation slots all the time. (Chen, Buehrle) Why are you so sure Tanaka won't get shuffled around to face us especially considering how dominant he's been?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 What's this hub bub all about? Who's this guy even? VP of Business Operations. He's in charge of the entire business side of the Jays and reports to Beeston. Wonder if he will still be there once Shapiro comes in.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Tanaka pitched on regular rest against us and if Girardi was smart and he is i would bet my ass we see him next week. It could happen. They're watching Pineda's innings a bit too, so they could push him back until Saturday then we would see Warren/Severino/Tanaka instead of Warren/Severino/Pineda.

I was thinking it'd be Sabathia/Warren or Severino/Pineda.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Braves lineup--outside of Markakis and Freeman, basically a near AAA lineup:
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I cant stand the thought of Price hitting and/or running the bases tomorrow night. NL - just such an unnecessary risk.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Markakis actually had some good power in his younger days. 2 HR. Wow.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Yeah I would bet that Tanaka goes Friday against the Mets so he can pitch Wednesday against the Jays.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Nothing better than having a 105 wRC hitter in the clean-up spot.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Just awful lol did you see the Bravis lineup? 2-5 is pretty good and that is as good a defensive lineup as you will find this season playing in a big ballpark. I'm fine with it.
