HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Is Loup still alive? Hasn't been used since July 31... lol The fact that he wasn't used a single time against the lefties that the Yankees have just shows that he should be the one who deserve to go down
LTR Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 The fact that he wasn't used a single time against the lefties that the Yankees have just shows that he should be the one who deserve to go down Wrong choice of words, but yeah.. he probably will.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Those are this years numbers. They do tell a story and if you have a problem with that it is yours. Welcome to the board. As you can tell there are some posters who are total jerks to people who use the stats you mentioned especially in small samples like 20 games. These are the people who probably have a hard time talking baseball in real life to casual or more elderly fans. If you're not interested in spending 5-10 minutes to read about a few stats then a good portion of the posters will continue to be condescending to you, but you can ignore their posts. As for the pitching, it has looked better since the break and I don't think anyone doubts that they have enough pitching to win the world series. If you look at the other teams in the AL who are contending none of them have really great pitching themselves. David Price with a few mid rotation starters is pretty good with an improved bullpen. If you look "on paper" the Jays have the best team in the American League and I don't think it's that close. Some people were mad about the Price trade but when you consider their window of opportunity here and the fact they place within the division so much down the stretch, it was a very good trade to make, I think you would agree.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Wrong choice of words, but yeah.. he probably will. It really comes down to him or Schultz and frankly at this point I don't care which of the two it is, as long as someone goes down and an OF comes up.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Wrong choice of words, but yeah.. he probably will. it's funny how he was one of Gibbons favs but Gibbons exposed him against RHH and put him in a bad spot.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 He's given up a bunch of homers to righties but against lefties he's still doing bad. Last year he had no problems with righties.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Schultz can eat up innings in the likely event that Hutchison can't get past the 4th or 5th inning. Loup is a loogy. The answer for who to send down is pretty simple.
flafson Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 We are more likely to need an extra arm than an extra outfielder, i'm fine with the way the team is currently setup. If there is an emergency, Goins and Cola are almost decent enough.

I'm in the group that believes Loup has been incredibly unlucky, but also I understand if the organization doesn't want to take a gamble on him at this point. The guy is responsible for us losing like 4-5 games (or so I recall).

Smokey Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I think DV was against being a bench piece and was let go because of that. He was only going to be a pinch hitter basically if he stayed. If DV was willing to be part of the race as a bench player he would still be on the team, but he probably feels that he needs to play because he has not contract for next year. Colabello is just happy to be on a team. DV wants to play ever Damn, that was painful to read... By the way, how does this theory explain why Navarro's still on the team?

How would you react if someone started making an argument to keep RA Dickey next year because of the number of RBI he has this year? I agree there's a number of people who unfairly jump on people on this board, but all hell didn't break loose in this thread until he started talking about the George Bell FIP thing. There's really no coherent rebuttal you can create to that, thus the mockery and sarcastic posts.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 At least Goins is damn fine to watch in the field. That's really too bad though.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I like Goins but there's no question Travis is an upgrade Travis's fWAR is amazing. I like having Pennington on staff giving Travis as much time as he needs to heal properly to help us down the stretch. Trading Gose for Travis may be one of the best trades AA has made.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 I like Goins but there's no question Travis is an upgrade Goins can be a defensive sub for years. He's solid and since July 3rd his tweak in batting mechanics has allowed him to have some timely hitting. He's a valuable piece going forward.
