Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Sanchez does not have a #1 ceiling. Matt Boyd also has a higher floor than Sanchez. Don't be so sure about Sanchez not having a #1 ceiling. #27 Baseball America, #25 Baseball Prospectus, #14 Sickels, despite much less than stellar MiLB stats, suggests otherwise. The stuff is there.
43211234 Verified Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Why not? He has shown to be inconsistent at time but also consistent at time. The stuff is clearly there. The stuff is not clearly there. His curveball is very inconsistent and doesn't fool batters often. He's a two pitch guy. Just because he throws hard doesn't mean he has ace potential. Joe Kelly throws harder and has a better breaking ball. Do you think he's a potential ace?

I'd probably put a #3/4 ceiling on Sanchez tbh. If he sticks in a rotation at all then it's a positive outcome. Boyd might have a realistic ceiling = to Sanchez, actually.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 If they trade Sanchez for one year of Latos my head will explode. Boyd or anyone else with mid-rotation 100% do it. Take 2 or 3 of those guys. It shouldn't take Sanchez to land him unless we're way out of touch. Boyd maybe? I'd make that trade but hopefully they go after someone a little bit better than Latos.

Sanchez has 5 years to go to hit his prime. Plenty of time for improvements. He's working on the changeup..... get 10 mph separation and deception and the K's will come.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 27-30 is prime for a pitcher?? not true
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 not true Depends on which study you buy into. Baseball Prospectus Debut Age Peak(s) 0-22 26, 29 23 26 24 29 25 25, 29 26 27, 32 27 32 6 of the 9 peaks in the above are age 27 to 32
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Trade targets: Cueto Hamels Samardzija Kazmir Iwakuma Kennedy Leake Haren Latos Lohse Happ Harang Chapman Benoit Zeigler Clippard Papelbon Grilli K-Rod Jim Johnson Cotts Sorted roughly by value/cost. Pick your favourites! These are just the obvious ones, approaching FA on teams that could be out of it.
JuniorFelix Verified Member Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Krod is my favorite reliever on the list. Would cost a fair chunk though as he is cheap with a very team-friendly option if i'm not mistaken.
tercet Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Matt Boyd and flyballs.. who woulda thought
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Boyd trade value going to s***
tercet Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Boyd trade value going to s*** No, hes doing pretty much as expected. Don't let one fluky start change your mind.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Yep, trade for someone. Don't care who it is. We need starters who can at least record an out.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Yep, trade for someone. Don't care who it is. We need starters who can at least record an out. Boyd is pitching because Sanchez is injured. He was never one to rely on in the first place.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Any value Boyd had as a secondary prospect has been pretty much destroyed by this game
baubau Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Any value Boyd had as a secondary prospect has been pretty much destroyed by this game Yes, because GMs base a value of a player based on 2 games.

baubau Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 What? Stewart, Amaro? Touche. You win this round Ang! >_
StroShow Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Yup. We turned Nolin into Donaldson. Would've gotten Trout if not for Nolin's debut
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Can op change the title of the thread to " Matt Boyd dud thread" ??
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Would've gotten Trout if not for Nolin's debut or riggans was still there
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 The Sox knew every pitch that was coming in that first inning. Boyd is tipping his pitches. If you think.GMs wont look at how badly he was destroyed well then you need to think again
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 Boyd tips his pitches. Can't they give the Hoff a shot or call up Chuck Norris?
