Seems more likely to be a trade Why back off on calling him up? lol

Seems more likely to be a trade Why back off on calling him up? Because they can't start him Thursday and then also on Saturday? Starters don't usually pitch on one day's rest. It's probably not a coincidence that the Jays need a starter on Saturday and that's the point Lott made in his second sentence.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 you are crazy. Has nothing to do with your boyd comment though. lol
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I think a Cueto deal would involve a lot more than Boyd who would be at best the second piece Also if Reds are shopping Cueto than they can prob get a better prospect from another team. So if the rumors are at all true who would be the first piece
Ehjays Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I don't think it's a trade with Cinci....They won't sell off until after the All-star game....which they host.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Makes a lot of sense to see if Boyd can help you now before you trade him.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I think when Cincy trades Cueto, they will be able to get more,. Looking at other teams, I dont think the Jays have the major prospects required to land an Ace in return. A reliever or two is much more likely.

It's for 2 months...not going to cost a s*** ton unless a GM is an idot

A reliever or two is much more likely. likely true, but Cueto is a rental with a potential injury - so maybe his value won't be as high as Smardzja's was last year. If it is that high it likely puts Jays out of running to get him
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Sure unless he gets destroyed. Teams like to hide the prospects they want to trade in the minors. You have to be very confident he will be successful. Yeah but the primary goal should be getting value out of him not necessarily trading him. If you can get value out of him by playing him, that's ideal.
pickoff22 Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Would you give up Hoffman + Castro? No. Not saying that wouldn't be the price, but I wouldn't be willing to part with that. The qualifying offer system has made rentals all the more expensive. Look at what Oakland gave up for Shark, Cincy is gonna want something comparable
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Would you give up Hoffman + Castro? I wouldn't even give that up for Trout

Russell was a top 10 prospect who plays SS.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I wouldn't even give that up for Trout I hope that's sarcasm.... Trout is best player in baseball arguably
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I wouldn't even give that up for Trout Pardon. Please explain lol
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I wouldn't even give that up for Trout I agree. He strikes out too much.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I agree. He strikes out too much. Not to mention he seems way more interested in a career in meteorology.

They got 1 and a half years of shark which is key. Also got Hammel who was pitching well at the time. The A's also got a lot back this off season for shark, it looks like a fine trade to me.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I wouldn't even give that up for Trout Agree. Hoffman (2K/9) and Castro (RP ceiling) for Trout is a steal for the Angels. DesClafani for Sanchez + Boyd

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I'm curious to what you would trade for Cueto? I'd do Norris Boyd and Castro for Cueto and Chapman
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Would you give up Hoffman + Castro? Not Hoffman + Castro for 2 months of Cueto, but if we get a contract extention I'd expand our end and get the deal done asap
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I'd do Norris Boyd and Castro for Cueto and Chapman Not Norris. I'd gladly sub in Norris with Pompey + some other B prospect
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Boyd scratched from AAA start. Could the Jays be calling him up over Doubront and Norris?
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Not Hoffman + Castro for 2 months of Cueto, but if we get a contract extention I'd expand our end and get the deal done asap Cueto isn't giving us any hometown discount though, so I don't know why the contract extension part is relevant to his value. Would you give up extra prospects for the opportunity to pay Johnny Cueto $140MM over 7 years?
