Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Cueto is going to free agency he would be stupid not to
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Gordon Wittenmyer Bryant out of game as Cubs shuffle lineup, moving Herrera to third. Awaiting word on cause. Maybe Bryant for Boyd; make sense for both teams r
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Cueto is going to free agency he would be stupid not to I'm sure his agent has a good idea of what he'd get. If the Blue Jays exceed that significantly in an offer, he'd be stupid not to take it. That wouldn't make sense for the Blue Jays. There will be so many pitchers available this winter that overpaying for one ahead of time isn't necessary.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Merge threads? Go ahead. It's just that I heard Matt Boyd was pushed back till Saturday, lining him up for a likely spot starter on Saturday, as Estrada needs an extra day after all those pitches. If it is him, I'll be there. I have tickets for Saturday.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Cueto isn't giving us any hometown discount though, so I don't know why the contract extension part is relevant to his value. Would you give up extra prospects for the opportunity to pay Johnny Cueto $140MM over 7 years? I would....Cueto is the ace this team needs going forward...don't see us doing that though.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 Shi Davidi #BlueJays option Rob Rasmussen to triple-A Buffalo, select contract of Matt Boyd.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 Boyd over Norris was the right choice
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 Arden Zwelling Indication from Gibby is Boyd will be given the chance to run with this opportunity. If he pitches well, he stays in the rotation. #BlueJays
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 So he's given a one start tryout. Maybe even one inning, like Nolin that one time. Meanwhile, Sanchez gets free reign to be terrible because ERA.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 Boyd will going to stick.

I think I'd rather have Norris up, but Boyd with some zip on his FB might be something. Certainly with this offense he doesn't have to be an ace.

I think they're just worried that when he's ready, sending Sanchez down to build his pitch count back up probably makes him unavailable until the latter part of July. If they use him out of the pen, he might be available in a few days, and could be a huge boost there.

I'd rather see Boyd, just in case he gets traded before I see him pitch

tercet Verified Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I don't have high hopes for Boyd now, hes gotta learn to get ground ball outs first imo. His flyball tendencies are very scary..

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 So flyball pitchers can't succeed? He is a severe flyball pitcher in a homer park. Not much good can happen with those two things.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 Our one saving grace is he dominates lefties and Texas has a bunch of them, so he might look good. AA probably planning on showing him, then trading him.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 If Boyd looks good I don't understand the point of trading him. You can keep him if you want, he just has more value to teams with big parks and good outfield defenses.
