intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Stop goddamn fighting about Kevin Pillar. The Jays won and we got some post-game Evanka. That's good enough for me! http://i.imgur.com/fu3VCrW.gif
polar bear Verified Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I don't want to see him fail, I'm just very bearish on him. He's still an excellent 4th outfielder, though. You actually prefer Saunders to Pillar?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Pillar/Happ > Saunders/Sanchez in rotation
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I dont understand but There are people here that would like to see Pillar fail. Some have judged Pillar's ceiling pretty quickly. I understand why to some extent given his lack of plate discipline. Its odd given late bloomers like Josh Donaldson, E-Rex and Jose form the heart of our order.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Pillar is a below average bat who can cover all three outfield positions and run a little. He's perfectly suited as a 4th OF on this team, and is a luxury we're fortunate to have. No need to ask him to be more than he is.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 You actually prefer Saunders to Pillar? To be honest, I'm getting quite discouraged with Saunders. Going into the season, absolutely Saunders > Pillar. But after watching him play and his sloth-like tendencies in the outfield, I'm afraid we now have a player that can only hit. And his bat may even be questionable now too. Knee injuries = power sap He looks worse than Melky Cabrera in the outfield.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 He's probably a 270ish BABIP guy, 230ish AVG guy...but who really cares about AVG. Martin has always been an OBP guy with elite defense. By high OBP do you mean .320ish he averaged from 2011 - 2013 before the complete anomaly of a season he had last year?
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Pillar/Happ > Saunders/Sanchez in rotation Happ would be nice to have in the rotation right now. Sentences you thought you would never say for 1000.
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 By high OBP do you mean .320ish he averaged from 2011 - 2013 before the complete anomaly of a season he had last year? So far his OBP has carried over from last year, so who cares.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 So far his OBP has carried over from last year, so who cares. and his BABIP is just slightly below where it was on average in 2011-2013. Unless you expect him to maintain the massive spike in BB%, his OBP is going to drop back down to .320-.330.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Josh Donaldson is leading off for the Blue Jays on Friday.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Josh Donaldson is leading off for the Blue Jays on Friday. Like the move by Gibby. Besides putting Martin leadoff this is the best lineup configuration he could of done.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Josh Donaldson is leading off for the Blue Jays on Friday. Strange lineup, but Travis does need an off-day.. hey it could be worse! O's are starting Steve Pearce at 2B tonight.. no joke!
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Whats the latest on Bautista's shoulder?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Like the move by Gibby. Besides putting Martin leadoff this is the best lineup configuration he could of done. Agreed - get your best hitters more at bats. This is close to the "optimal" lineup that JFaS suggested...

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 So someone should throw a GDT together...i would do it but we're going to need my magic for the stretch run when Fatcoww stops watching baseball and the Jays need wins.
