Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I just think it sounds corny. Can't find it but there was a video of fans doing it in the concourse of the Cleveland arena and it just seemed amateur. So fans doing it in the concourse seemed amateur? You don't say...you may want to look up the definition of amateur sir...
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Come Together is pretty accurate. I mean we all saw Castro's velocity tonight, right?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Still better than #LOVethISTEam
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Do you think the city's laundromats are prepared for the influx of business they'll be getting because of the top 5 in the batting order? #LaundryDay #AnybodySpareSomeChange #NowThatsWhatTheyCallAFullLoad
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 So fans doing it in the concourse seemed amateur? You don't say...you may want to look up the definition of amateur sir... Alright it was pathetic. Does that sound better?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Better than "Stadium Love". Stadium Love and Come Together.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I still think this would make an awesome Canadiana theme song for the Blue Jays one year The Constantines are great but I don't know that they have anything with quite the right hook musically or lyrically. That comes close but I don't think it quite works though at points it really feels like it will.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 They should have copied the Raptors and gone with "We The North", even Stroman wears a we the north hat, might as well put everyone else on it.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I imagine the rights to use the song are generally cheaper when the song and/or the band suck. The Jays have some sort of agreement with Universal Music Canada (literally every song they use in their marketing is from a Universal artist...) so I don't think it matters which one they pick as far as costs go. Universal just needs better talent. so do the Jays players just have one giant circle jerk for this #cometogether slogan? Last one to finish eats the cracker! I think I might make more accounts just so I can thank this post more. It's okay, you don't need to do that, I already feel the appreciation in my heart.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Stadium Love and Come Together. Free hooker Saturdays? first 20,000 fans get one....

ScientificReason Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Does this mean "Orgy Night" will be a thing this year?
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Not a big fan of the slogan but it sure beats many of the past ones. Those girls modeling the cowboy hats were nice to look at but they had no clue what they were doing.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Isn't Universal pretty big? Surely there's something good if you did deep enough. They only use Universal Canada artists... http://www.universalmusic.ca/artists/ <-- mostly a steaming pile of s***/songs that wouldn't really fit the "theme" or whatever they're going for... At least they haven't used Bieber yet... Monster Truck isn't bad, they used them for a while last year.

The Arkells, Broken Social Scene, City and Colour, Death From Above 1979, Deadmau5, Matt Good, Hollerado, Lights, Mother Mother, Tokyo Police Club are all pretty good. How they had those options available but went with Metric for the main theme blows my mind. I wasn't expecting to name that many, but there are some pretty decent bands there. Most glaring to me though is that they could use Bryan Adams, but don't. Get your s*** together, Blue Jays!
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Wintersleep is an amazing band that deserves more fans. Not sure if there's much commercial material there though. Why not just use Drake, lol? Bring back #TeamUnit but cut the Leafs out and embrace the Raptors. ha
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Why not just use Drake, lol? I'm really surprised that they had access to Drake and didn't use "Just Hold On I'm Coming Home" for the opener last year. The song was still big at the time. Timing would have worked. If they use it now it will just sound like they're really late to the party.

The Arkells are good (played a festival with them once, actually), I don't really know BSS enough to comment, City and Colour is decent enough background music, not a DFA1979 fan, but I have heard that their new stuff would be less likely to piss me off than their early stuff, not a fan of Deadmau5's style, but I'm sure he's good at what he does (I play live drums for a band signed to his label actually, not that we've done anything live in probably... 3 years now) Matt Good is hit or miss, Hollerado has one song that I like, and a bunch of forgettable album tracks, I know nothing of Mother Mother and I f***ing LOATHE Tokyo Police Club. /musicsnobrant They went with Metric because the song has the word "Stadium" in it. Frankly, I believe the song was written specifically at the request of the Jays' marketing department.

They might have simply kept that to themselves though.

If I had to listen to that s*** while watching the Blue Jays I'd be very disappointed.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 They're not even trying anymore are they? A f***ing moose? Really? The sad thing is they could have used the message/catchphrase to their advantage but like everything they executed it so poorly there's no point in putting up what they did.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I wonder if the same people who came up with this idea ran one for the Yankees or the Mets and had one of those huge subway rats flash for a few seconds.
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 ... and they don't even use The Beatles song which would be the only semi-justifiable reason to run with that slogan in the first place. That would cost way more than what Rogers would be willing to spend.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 We need to get #CUMTOGETHER trending on twitter. Might embarass the Jays enough to change it. That would be amazing. Has anyone found out who was responsible for this cheesy slogan? Btw that reminds me, has anyone heard of the brand comme des garcons. I swear it really exists.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 If they changed the spelling to " Cum together " think orgies should get more fans out! Lol
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I think its terrible. When people chant it I just want to walk away and not be embarassed. People seem to have embraced 'we the north' but it always sounded weird to me, like there's a word or two missing. We the north...what? We are the north? Slogans aren't necessarily supposed to be grammatical but it sounds truncated.
