glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Keep him off the field. Let him DH full time instead of playing 1B to get Navarro's bat in the lineup.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 On one hand its ST so its obviously precautionary but on the other hand back injuries usually are never good. Really hope its nothing but its getting more clear that EE probably should not be signed long term after his club option is picked up. Back issues always seem chronic.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 At least we have better options this year to replace him if he needs some time(Smoak to DH, Barton 1B). SSS, but Smoak 0-13 Justin Smoak went 0-for-3 on Monday and has opened the spring 0-for-13. Advice: Smoak is on the 40-man, but with just a $1 million contract, it wouldn't be especially painful for the Blue Jays to cut him this spring. Of course, there's still a long ways to go before that kind of decision needs to be made. As is, he's still penciled in as a starter, at least against right-handers.

Im willing to bet Navarro gets a lot of DH ABs if EE starts the season on the DL. He isn't the best option but it will stop the whining which you hope isn't a distraction to the team.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Barry Davis EE in fact had the MRI and it just showed some inflammation. GIbbons says they'll let him rest the next 4-5 days. #bluejays
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Barry Davis Good news for both Cecil and Saunders. Cecil will play catch and Saunders will take live BP with a coach throwing. #Bluejays
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 At least it doesn't appear to be serious but we can never tell with Blue Jays doctors.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The good news is that most 30 somethings that have back pain get a few days rest and never suffer from it again.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Hopefully this will keep him off the field and in his rightful role as the DH
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Gregor Chisholm Navarro tweaked his knee yesterday but it's supposed to be minor. Might miss a couple of days. #BlueJays

He's going to be playing games in a week to 10 days at this rate. He probably will be ready for opening day.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 It's the curse of Adam Lind. You can't get rid of it that easily. Check the clubhouse for stray beard hairs. Did nobody vacuum?

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I would almost put money on Saunders getting hurt again before then. Saunders for DH for the first part of the season.... However that puts EE on first and i am not sure i want that..... Logistical problems.

Too early to label Edwin's issue as being chronic. We will see how much actual regular season time he misses because of it, if any. Although, based on the way the payroll is structured for the next few years, even in a best case scenario the Jays will likely have to pick one or the other with Bautista/Edwin, and they'll likely go with Bautista regardless.

Logistical problems. Is this even necessary? Since the injured part of his knee was removed, is there any more a chance of injury than normal to say that Saunders would need to DH? Isn't it now just if he's strong enough to run, he's literally also strong enough to play?

From what I understand, he should have no limitations but will get arthritis like a motherf***er in 20 years. Pretty big relief. We were all worried he'd be out for half the year.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Oh yeah, that part I know. Poor dude wants to at least put up a career year or two so he can get the big bucks, and he sacrificed his future health to do it. I just meant if he's able to play, there must also be no point in easing him in since the broken parts don't exist anymore. He's no more a threat for injury than he would have been if SprinklerGate hadn't happened.
Governator Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Typical Spring Training. Nothing but bad news to report until the regular season begins.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The good news for Saunders is that he's a multi-millionaire, and if he manages his money appropriately, they are likely to come out with some sort on cartilage like technology in the next 20 years that will be able to help him age
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 OT but every time I hear someone use "gate" I remember LeBron James cluelessly joking about it. "Why does everyone have to say gate?" Guess he skipped history in high school.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Can I change the thread title to "half the team has aches and pains - stay tuned"

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 lol Lebron is dumb as f***. Guy has basically created a massive empire for himself that will last for decades to come. He surrounds himself with smart people and he's capitalized on his abilities like almost no other athlete in history. What a retard! Most American teens/20 somethings probably have zero idea about the Watergate scandal.

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
