Cyris Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Loving Smoak's D at first. GG quality. Hopefully he can hit enough to make the club.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Smoak is pushing to be the every day first baseman. This is a great thing!!
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Smoak looking great at first.. come on reyes
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 That's why Smoak plays 1B and Edwin is DH. You hear that, Gibbons? No Navarro at DH ********.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Has Chris Davis home run come down yet?
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Yea, again, Smoaks glove has been excellent at first, and is a necessity with Reyes and Donaldson.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Put 25$ on the Jays. Kinda dumb to bet on preseason baseball but whatever. lol, you might have a problem there mate
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 They're obviously not morons, but are displaying an obvious resistance to changing times (analytics), probably because they feel they are an authority of baseball knowledge due to their playing time. But Buck was a f'n starting catcher known for decent defense. Does he not realize he was affecting the calls his pitcher was getting sometimes? Honestly... (frustration directed at Buck not you)
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 izzy's looked about as well as he could so far this spring...defense has been solid Best case scenario is Izturis actually a decent player again and Travis can start in the minors and eventually earn his way up.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 lol, you might have a problem there mate It's only 1-0. Betting on preseason baseball is like flipping a coin. we'll see...it's only 25$.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Old school guys rarely listen to up-and-comers. It's just ego. There are very few instances in the history of Earth where this is not the case. So: Not idiots, but still either ignorant or stubborn or both.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 If Izturis can hit .250ish we're set at 2B this season.

Frank Menechino Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 They are idiots.... If we take a vote here I think you would find that most people think they are dinosaurs who haven't evolved. There are a lot of former players who are thick as bricks. Just because they played or even managed doesn't mean they are smart. Pat Tabler? Sure. But Buck and Joe Siddall are not idiots.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Can they get rid of thole and Navarro so Jimenez can be the back up catcher???
43211234 Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Sanchez resume please!! He looked decent. The command still wasn't great. Had 1 swinging K on a curve, the other two strikeouts were looking.
Frank Menechino Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 professional at bat by Santiago there
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Pat Tabler? Sure. But Buck and Joe Siddall are not idiots. When the two of them have a 5 minute argument against advanced stats that even the people least interested in metrics understand, they are idiots. They might as well be arguing that the earth is flat.

They might as well be arguing that the earth is flat. It wasn't so much an argument against advanced stats as it was a semantic argument about labeling it "framing". Shouldn't be so quick to just flat out label people "idiots".
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Pat Tabler? Sure. But Buck and Joe Siddall are not idiots. Buck is a drunk. Joe Siddall is a wannabe.

If this was an isolated incident I'd agree with you, but this is what we have been listening to for years. They get paid to talk baseball, unfortunately there isn't an intellect clause and we get to listen to tripe 162 games every year.
Frank Menechino Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Buck is a drunk. Joe Siddall is a wannabe. Not disputing Buck's propensity for the booze, but what exactly does Siddall want to be but isn't?

All you hear from them is a one-way discourse 3 hours at a time, dumbing facts down for the Canadian baseball market. Fact is, they've had two different (more than 2 in Buck's case) jobs within a major sporting market, which you could never dream of entering into. If these guys are idiots, sign me up to the dumb club.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Looks like Aaron Sanchez shut all the critics today

The fans are a lot more intellectual today than they were 30 years ago. Treating the fans like they are the idiots makes the announcers come across as complete simpletons. Arguing against advanced stats, when we have almost unlimited resources to support the facts, is simply dumb. When they do it on a daily basis they are STUPID
