They're obviously not morons, but are displaying an obvious resistance to changing times (analytics), probably because they feel they are an authority of baseball knowledge due to their playing time.

But Buck was a f'n starting catcher known for decent defense. Does he not realize he was affecting the calls his pitcher was getting sometimes? Honestly... (frustration directed at Buck not you)

izzy's looked about as well as he could so far this spring...defense has been solid

Best case scenario is Izturis actually a decent player again and Travis can start in the minors and eventually earn his way up.

Old school guys rarely listen to up-and-comers. It's just ego. There are very few instances in the history of Earth where this is not the case.

So: Not idiots, but still either ignorant or stubborn or both.

either in denial or completely delusional.

They are idiots.... If we take a vote here I think you would find that most people think they are dinosaurs who haven't evolved.

There are a lot of former players who are thick as bricks. Just because they played or even managed doesn't mean they are smart.

Pat Tabler? Sure. But Buck and Joe Siddall are not idiots.

Sanchez resume please!!

He looked decent. The command still wasn't great. Had 1 swinging K on a curve, the other two strikeouts were looking.

When the two of them have a 5 minute argument against advanced stats that even the people least interested in metrics understand, they are idiots. They might as well be arguing that the earth is flat.

It wasn't so much an argument against advanced stats as it was a semantic argument about labeling it "framing". Shouldn't be so quick to just flat out label people "idiots".

"QUICK" there is years of evidence against them. If this was an isolated incident I'd agree with you, but this is what we have been listening to for years. They get paid to talk baseball, unfortunately there isn't an intellect clause and we get to listen to tripe 162 games every year.

You don't even know the guys? All you hear from them is a one-way discourse 3 hours at a time, dumbing facts down for the Canadian baseball market.

Fact is, they've had two different (more than 2 in Buck's case) jobs within a major sporting market, which you could never dream of entering into. If these guys are idiots, sign me up to the dumb club.

Dumbing the facts down for fans is something most fans wish they would completely stop doing. The fans are a lot more intellectual today than they were 30 years ago. Treating the fans like they are the idiots makes the announcers come across as complete simpletons.

Arguing against advanced stats, when we have almost unlimited resources to support the facts, is simply dumb. When they do it on a daily basis they are STUPID
