Villar suxxxxxxxxxxxx

I love Villar

He's a speedster with great positional versatility and some pop. Been around for a few years but is still super young. Could actually turn into some WARz, some day.

Let's also take a moment to acknowledge the existence of a professional baseball pitcher with the first name Cy

If someone offered you a $325M contract, you would take it, regardless of who was offering it. He will still probably be traded at some point.

Its funny because that is pretty much what AA did. Obviously 10 million is less than 325 but relative to the money AA earns its comparable.

He'll almost certainly at least opt out after 2020.

They controlled Stanton through 2017 anyway. He basically sold three free agent years at 3/$77 in exchange for an insurance policy worth $218M over seven years.

If he remains awesome, he'll opt out at 30 and get a 10 year, $300MM contract.

If injuries ruin his career he won't opt out and still be absurdly rich.

If it looks like he'll opt out during the 2020 season and the Marlins suck, it could be one of the most interesting trade deadlines ever. Imagine landing Stanton for your team's stretch run?

Seems kind of biased. If my teammates and coaches were openly hoping I got rocked every time I went out on the mound I'd ask for a trade too.

Not denying that Jose is a douche, but there's two sides to every story.

I think it's pretty inaccurate to claim they were openly cheering against him. There's a difference between being 15 games under .500 in September hoping the Nats rock him for a humility sake, and cheering every time he gives up a hit.

Point taken.

What kind of player with any leverage wouldn't want to be traded from the Marlins? One of the worst organizations in professional sports and you have literally 0 chance of winning anything. Stanton is an idiot for resigning there.

I think most players would agree that:

Securing a $325m contract > being on a winning team

Although I doubt many would admit it.

What are your thoughts on Puig? Your son plays with him.

Well this is between you and me, but I'll tell you what. When the highest paid player on the Los Angeles Dodgers goes to the owner to discuss what the team needs to do to improve and says "you've got to get rid of Puig", that tells you all you need to know.

Wow. So that's an Adrian Gonzalez quote?

Adrian isn't the highest paid player.

So a Kershaw quote?

I didn't say his name.

....

lmao @ Cano's season being the worst 3rd hitting every day position player season he has ever seen. Look at the stats!

- Worst defensive 2nd baseman he has ever seen.

- GM, coaches all got fired because of Cano.

Andy Van Slyke is the biggest ******* I've ever heard. First off, publicly stating something your son told you (that Kershaw told the Dodgers they have to trade Puig), secondly calling Cano the sole reason that everyone got fired and the worst middle of the order player in baseball. Lastly stating that hitting coaches mean very little (I believe that, but it's still insulting people that work in the same sport as you). Funny when he called Colby stupid.

"Cano had the worst season for an everyday player I've seen in 20 years at the big league level. He was the most awful player I've ever seen"

This guy is f***ing dumn.

Would have loved to hear him go further into his opinions of mental conditioning as I'm sure he would have went off on that too

I'm a f***ing retard

I kept staring at your question wondering if you were asking who the last one was or if this was going to be the last one, and it seemed weird either way.

The entire MLB awards system is set up for debate ... It is the best marketing campaign they have

Agreed, I've always been on your wagon, for this reason.

This comes out now after the ownership is disputing with his agent. In saying this, clear out the farm Shapiro, you can start your project in 17' ;)

Good post, there's some fun stuff in there. TwistedLogic wanted to do that type of simulation here a couple offseason ago but it didn't get off the ground.

I wonder why the Mets felt compelled to give something up for Yasmany Tomas. The Red Sox gave up a few B pieces and got Carrasco and Clint Frazier! Some strange decisions. That's a great Jays offseason but I can't see a lot of it being realistic.

That'd be one hell of an offseason.

I don't believe a word that comes out of the Marlins organization. You would have to show me the video of Fernandez killing puppies before I believe you.

This ^^^ This is only coming out now that the Marlins are in a feud with Boras over Ozuna and Fernandez. BS leakage in my opinion.

I'm sure they hoped he would fail because he is a piece of s*** not just for no reason. I bet the team being bad has something to do with his attitude but he may just be a bad apple like Puig.

*sighs*
