burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 New lead prospect guy at fangraphs is getting killed in the comments for his braves org. rankings. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/evaluating-the-2016-prospects-atlanta-braves/ He seems way to take the numbers based approach to an extreme. Certainly has some very old players ranked pretty high. We took for granted how great Kiley was.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 No. Everybody appreciated McDaniel and everybody knows that most of the good prospect guys move on from the public sector in short order I guess. Still, likely won't be anyone half as good as he was.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I guess. Still, likely won't be anyone half as good as he was. Meh. It's not really that hard to watch youngsters play baseball and throw somewhat arbitrary number grades on their attributes.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 You posted an article about him explaining projections that was stickied here, IIRC. Seems like an intelligent guy. Boxy's a fan as well, me thinks? wat
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Personally I can't see him Toronto paying for him. If the plan was to sign him all along the Chavez trade seems like a waste. I think SF would be an interesting place for Price to go.

More or less we don't know where the f*** he is going
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I'm sorry but the guy is a Cubs radio host. I doubt he has any inside sources from Price's camp. If anything, he has sources with the Cubs, and they might not even know what Price is thinking. The guy may just think that the Cubs think the Jays are the only team in discussions righ tnow.

Price Stroman Estrada Dickey Chavez With Hutch for depth and Osuna + Sanchez in the bullpen.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I could see the Cubs using $ to sgin Heyward and Lackey instead which would make Price's FA more interesting. My guess is TOR, SF, LAD, CHC would be his top 4. I think Price will go to the NL. When he did an interview with Zaun he said one of his requests to any team when considering FA was that he was allowed to take BP once a week. He might just really want to hit lol.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 The Chavez trade wouldn't be a waste. Price Stroman Estrada Dickey Chavez With Hutch for depth and Osuna + Sanchez in the bullpen. Waste was the wrong word choice. With Price, Stroman, Dickey and Estrada you don't need as much "depth" as you normally would. Certainly enough where you don't have to trade a controllable reliever for 1 year of Chavez at 4.7. Hutch isn't a bad #5 starter, he could very well be better than Chavez.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I do think Jays will make a little push to get him but i think SF or Bos ultimately will end up with him.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Good news, Boston will keep piling on those bad contracts.
GoldBull Verified Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Reports like this will only fuel the casuals' hate for Shapiro & TLC when we don't sign Price. "Toronto was his first choice and Shapiro still wouldn't pony up!"
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Good news, Boston will keep piling on those bad contracts. Bad news: Boston is the best team in the division for the next few years.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Their offense can carry that rotation. And they can afford a #1 starter
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 well s*** https://t.co/92ht5Ao3Ig depends if you still like college kids as sources. He's broken a few before anyway

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 It'll be really interesting to see how much Price gets. A lot of the players seem to get more than I expect, but I find it hard to see him hitting 30M / year. I can definitely see 7/175 or 8/200 though.

Hutch isn't a bad #5 starter, he could very well be better than Chavez. If we sign Price, the payroll will have to go up significantly. That said, if all else is equal, some more BP help and that rotation, could allow us to have Hutch and hopefully Osuna/Sanchez start in AAA.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Maybe... hopefully Price declines quick then Boston has one of the best farm systems and great young position players. Even if Price declines they would be the best team for the short future. I mean right now FG has them ahead of the Jays by a small margin. Even if you give a boost for Estrada and Dickey because they outperform their FIP both teams are pretty damn close.

Even if you give a boost for Estrada and Dickey because they outperform their FIP both teams are pretty damn close. HAD one of the best farm systems. Remember, they just traded a ton for Kimbrel recently. And due to this, they have very little above A/A+ ball. Outisde of Benintendi(who projects as a bench player minimum, All-Star at best), neither Moncada, Devers, Espinoza, or Kopech are sure things, as they have a long road to the majors and are at least 2018 arrivals at best (Benintendi likely 2017). And knowing Dombrowski, he'll sell the farm to win now.. ask Detroit Tigers fans. And as for young players, only Betts and Bogaerts are sure things. Still questions regarding Bradley Jr., Castillo and Swihart/Vazquez. Castillo is close to bust material, after that performance this past season, looking no more than a 4th outfielder at best, with good defense but a disappointing bat. Bradley's numbers are inflated by a strong August.. he was the same disappointing offensive threat that has been sent to the minors multiple times. Swihart's D needs to improvement.. but he'll likely be handed the starting job next season because Vazquez is slow in returning post-TJS. Bradley and Castillo's performances last season is part of the reason I didn't want them trading Margot.. what happens if Bradley and Castillo bust? Benintendi is 2 years away.. and their farm isn't exactly deep in the high minors.
