Piscotty From STL is a good start and maybe Reyes. Not really a Cardinal type of move though

I could see it. They traded for Holliday and then extended him, and Freeman looks like a similarly safe bet to produce over the next 5-6 years. 1B is also their only real hole, and has been for awhile. Something around Reyes and a few lower end guys could make a lot of sense.

Ken Rosenthal says sources tell him David Ortiz plans to retire after next season

Great career and certainly worth HOF consideration, but not before Edgar Martinez gets in. I won't miss facing him, but I'll miss having him in the game.

Freeman would be a great pick up. Not sure the Jays have the prospects to get him though, unless Atlanta wants to continue their derp way of team building.

Could go for even cheaper pitching if we got Freeman. Not that I think this has any real potential to happen.

Revere

Donaldson

Bautista

EE

Freeman

Tulo

Martin

Travis

Pillar

That's not only the best offense in baseball but one of the better defenses as well.

Yes, though I woudn't trade assets AND add payroll for Freeman when we still have Smoak, Cola and Edwin on the roster, and with Tellez in the system

Good lord - giving Revere the most plate appearances in a lineup like that would be one of the dumbest decisions in ML history.

But you know Gibby would do just that

Too many "middle of the order" bats!!!! (what a huge problem to have huh?)

You need someone fast in the leadoff spot

LOL

If Travis is healthy and for real that would be huge...

1. He plays a lead off type position

2. He is the right size for a lead off hitter

Even if he hit like 50 homeruns they could still hit him lead off... like brady anderson.

You can't hit the others lead off -- Don't play lead off positions except Tulo -- and Tulo is too tall and allready struggled in lead off

joking by the way

I doubt it. I don't think he moved Revere there because he necessarily wanted to, more so that Tulo was struggling. He probably should have just moved everyone up a spot rather than swapping Tulo for Revere, but he gave a lineup with Tulo at the top a decent chance.

I'd love to see Devon Travis turn in to a legit lead off hitter

Or to remain a legit lead off hitter. I don't expect a whole lot more from him going forward.

YKWIM. I hope his 62 game MLB stint is indicative of what he can do. Not guaranteed by any stretch.

Nice. He would have got in the neighborhood of 15M total over his 2 arb years, so they're buying 4 free agent years for 60M.

#Braves, #DBacks discussed trade for ATL’s Shelby Miller, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. Talks did not progress.

#Braves wanted piece from #DBacks’ major-league core, sources say - perhaps Pollock, who, like Miller, is under club control three more yrs.

Pollock for Miller is not an unreasonable request, if that is indeed what #Braves wanted. But #DBacks were not comfortable with such a deal.

Pretty happy about that. Didn't want him back, especially for two years.

Were they rumoured in on Cliff? Why would Toronto want him?

I thought the same thing, we have Goins and Muni for that.

Well, Goins. Muni is just a racist self-deprecating mascot.
