If there was sound research that really clearly showed these recommendations were sound, we'd have it. Instead there is a lot of wishy washy articles and information out there. Starters are better conditioned than ever and throw less than any previous time in baseball but are getting hurt at exponentially greater numbers and people just go along with it. It's so dumbfounding.

I think it's naive to believe that James Andrews is giving IP limit recommendations without supporting research.

I think your belief about doctors being any different than any other profession is naive. You certainly believe the top positions in baseball are often held by people who don't use actual, informed research to make decisions.

So your stance here is actually: "f*** innings limits. Dr. James Andrews probably just pulls them out of his ass anyway"?

This is a guy who has made a career doing groundbreaking work and largely dedicated his life to understanding the nature of these kinds of injuries.

Wouldn't it be better for Dr James Andrews if Harvey got injured again

Didn't they just help Stroman recover from an ACL tear like 3 months quicker than most people?

I like the fact that Matt Harvey in jumping into the inning limit debate himself. He criticized a 6 man rotation earlier in the year, and then now he doesn't want to go over a 180 IP limit. I understand that he's looking out for his career but you complain that a 6 man rotation will limit your innings and your income potential and then later you complain that going over an inning limit could hamper your career.

Mets should probably give Harvey a week or 2 off. If innings is such a big thing just pitch him out of the bullpen.

If you were a mets fan and nationals were breathing down your neck.would you agree

what a piece of crap Harvey is. wussing out of pitching, I can just imagine the mets

Hey Matt, we need you to take the ball game 7 of the world series

Harvey "No, I cant. Protecting my arm,"

I cant imagine a single mets fan cheering for him after this. If I am the mets, I would make him take the ball every 5th day, and sue Boras for attempting to coerce an employee to perform subpar using manipulation and bribery.

Disgusting Stuff. Imagine the team that ends up giving the piece of crap a 7 year deal. Why would he focus on pitching again, all he clearly cares about is his money, and not the team winning.

I bet if the Mets had just signed him to a 7-year deal he's shut down right now. His career is on the line, and the Mets have nothing invested in him long term. Good for him for forcing them to heed the medical advice he was given.

And it's hilarious that this guy is getting crucified for caring more about money and personal success than team success. Of course he does. How many people would put their earning potential at risk because they care more about their company's success than their own? Nobody.

Isn't he still shilling for Qalcomm on nationally syndicated radio shows?
