Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The Padres are playing Gyorko at SS today... wat Pat Murphy must have Gyroko in a dynasty league....trying to increase his value by making him SS eligible. That's honestly the only logical explanation.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 So Gyorko is a better shortstop than, say, Solarte? The Padres are a clown show org.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 (after randomly looking at the Padres stats on Fangraphs) - holy lord the Padres suck. You know you suck when Melvin Upton, ex. Blue Jay cast off Brett Wallace AND pitcher Tyson Ross all have higher WARs than Matt Kemp, Wil Myers, Gyroko and Will Middlebrooks. #tuurrrrrribleoffseason

But yes, the Padres are terrible, laughably so.

He should not be anywhere on the field except 1B.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Ok, but Tyson Ross is actually a good pitcher. But yes, the Padres are terrible, laughably so. Ross as a hitter has put up a higher WAR than Kemp and Myers. 0.4 WAR in 50 PAs.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Remember when the media and casual fans acting like Preller was an early candidate for GM of the year, when in reality he set the franchise back a good 5 years and lost hundreds of millions of dollars of value?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Dave Dombrowski doing the 1st good thing for Boston, moving HanRam to 1B, where he should be at this point in his career:

You mean outfield defense is a thing? Get out. Here I thought Kemp had magically bounced back after last season despite being confirmed for having arthritis on his hips.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Thats why I'm not afraid of the Astros.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 The Royals are the only team that worries me. We can take the Royals. The team that worries me is the Yankees. Their pitching is solid, and if their offense is ON they are tough.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 The Royals are the only team that worries me. Yankees/Royals are very dangerous. I'm concerned about the Yankees most, however. They are the only wildcard team that could do damage against us.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Royals > Yankees. yanks offense is coming down to earth. Yankees offense is the 2nd best in the league, and even with regression it is good enough to support their pitching.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 One of the best teams in baseball has Jed Lowrie batting in the 3-hole and Colby Rasmus batting clean-up....... the f***!?!?!? They could have had Bryant playing 3B and batting 3rd for them today, but Mark Appel was just too good to pass up.
Followthelight Verified Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Yankees offense is the 2nd best in the league, and even with regression it is good enough to support their pitching. Maybe, but Nova is inconsistent and tanaka's arm could fall off at any moment. We are better then the Yankees, even the royals on paper. Our pitching does worry me but that all depends on if Stroman can get back by mid-late Sept. The yanks offense has over achieved all year and is rergressing.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 They should at least have Carlos Gonzalez batting 3rd. Gomez?

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 I wonder what this guy will be saying to Zaun and Hayhurst(if he were still working for Sportsnet) when the Jays play the Rays.. watch him play crappy defense and strike out 3-4 times a game..

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 We can take the Royals. The team that worries me is the Yankees. Their pitching is solid, and if their offense is ON they are tough. Thing I'm most concerned about the Royals is that they have several loose cannons in the pitching staff who seem to enjoy taking liberties with opposing batters. In the high pressure situations in the playoffs, that can be a big problem.

Sanchez getting the suspension was a joke.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 So Tito and Epstein took the fall for the 2011 collapse, and now Orsillo is out because ratings are down. It isn't possible to just f***ing suck sometimes, there always has to be a scapegoat. How does anybody work for that team without suffering from anxiety?
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Don't look now but those pesky Twins, who Id given up for dead, are right back in the WC hunt....They just don't quit.
