Why would you even...

No such thing as a jinx with the Jays.

I don't wish it on him obviously but I'd honestly rather he had that than the ACL.

That guy is an editor for Waterloo's student newspaper.

Aren't these hires usually kept under wraps? lol

lol at the air of secrecy surrounding a $12/hour intern hire. Good for the kid for announcing a job he's proud of getting (and should be).

So unfair. Stroman doesn't even have an arm injury and he's done for the year . Still can't believe it. And hell, for all we know, he could need Tommy John Surgery at some other point in his career, which would be another year lost. Just s***** all the way.

Its an excellent thing that the injury wasn't an arm injury. He'll come back next season plus he's resting that arm for a year.

I'm curious. Does anyone happen to know what percentage of pitchers end up having TJ surgery at some point in their careers?

Over the last 10 years, an average of 19.6 MLB players have gone down to TJ (ESPN has a list I averaged it). If we base numbers on approx. 345 MLB pitchers (11.5/team x 30), we get a 5.6% of pitchers falling to TJ @ the MLB level. Though if you have a 10 year career it doesn't mean you have a 56% chance of needing TJ surgery at some point afterall it's a 5% chance year after year but I'm sure how one looks after themselves, including their pitch counts, etc must highly relate to that outcome on a per pitcher basis.

WAT???

He could still get TJS and miss another full season. Is that a hard f***ing concept? I spelled it out for you in another post. That is far more likely an injury for a pitcher than an ACL issue, and something pitchers may have to get eventually anyway. The succes rate of coming back from one TJS is pretty good. The ACL is a freak injury that rarely happens. Nowhe is rehabbing a leg injury and you have to hope he doesn't overcompensate his mechanics or anything else due to it.

If you think I'm actually hoping he gets TJS, then you're more of an idiot than I originally guessed. Or "dumm", as you like to post as if it has even a tiny bit of humor to it.

I've never read something so dumb, in my life? Yes...42 f***ing years, wow.

Read some of your own material. You'll read things far "dummer".

And 42 is way too young to be spending your life on a message board. go outside. Do something.

You're worrying about an injury that hasn't happened and ACL tears are very common in all sports (of course not very common in pitchers) but success rate of coming back is probably better than TJ. Do you think if Rivera needed TJ surgery when he was 42 years old he would have come back? The ACL tear didn't stop him from putting up a 2.11ERA & an 86% save rate at 43 years old. Stroman is half that age and of the most athletic pitchers in the game.

Will the Cubs finally be good this year or do they need another year or two to mature these guys?

Pitchers hurt arms from pitching

Pitchers hurt knees from doing infield practice (Stroman) and shagging fly balls during batting practice (Mo). Such a freaky bad luck thing...

Bryant is 9/20 with 6 (!) bombs and 3 walks so far in Spring.

If they plan on contending, he has to start the year with them.

True, but you have to consider a closer doesn't put nearly as much strain on his knees during the course of a season.
