Yeah, you're right in general terms, but in baseball terms I'm gonna say he is... since there's no real tangible definition for skinny fat. How many other plays have you seen with a gut like that and legs that skinny

I think the only sport where you're gonna see skinny fat athletes nowadays is golf.

He looks like he's lost significant muscle mass, what are the dates on these

I think those are from one year ago. I'm guessing that he lost something like ~30 pounds, but has ballooned back up this offseason.

Kenley Jansen out 8-10 weeks

Major blow to the Dodgers bullpen. And it's 8-12 weeks actually. But don't expect them to go after K-Rod or Soriano.. they have no room on the 40 without DFAing or trading someone. It'll likely come in-house, likely Joel Peralta. Of course, the Dodgers bullpen was a major weakness last year.. and it doesn't look that much improved. Hope those elite starters in LA can pitch a ton of complete games..

It also made me think of the interesting 1-for-1 trade chain that goes Michael Taylor -> Brett Wallce -> Anthony Gose -> Devon Travis.

Assuming Devon does turn out to be better than Gose and continues the trend of each player being better than the last, a trade for Trout should occur in a few years with this compounding effect!

I'm just going to put this right here:

Pablo Sandoval is massive.

I was coming here to post this pic. I'm old and slow. It's an annual thing for Pablo to show up like this now isn't it.

Something tells me that Mike Oz has been fat shamed a few times himself.

There's no way that Sandoval isn't a better player without 40 lbs of fat hanging off his gut. Boston must be pissed.

Is there in any way a possibility that he was just caught at a bad angle?

Does anyone remember all that ******** flavor-of-the-week "Derek Eater" stuff that came out when someone took an inexplicably poor photo of Jeter that made him look like he was fat and out of shape, and then when he was next interviewed, he looked great? I bet Sandoval is just as big as he's been, it would be really poor form to eat himself to death just because he's been insured with a big payday.

Giants fans know about Sandoval's girth.. and as he ages, his weight is going to force him to 1B or DH, possibly sooner than later. Years where he's had weight issues have hurt his defense (see 2012, 2013).

The camera adds 10 pounds, not 40, lol.

That sure looks like a giant boiler. The wind isn't blowing his shorts in the direction his gut is sticking out. /edetective

That's just a massive gut, there's no way to deny that.

lmao, valid points I guess. I thought maybe his gut was popping out a since he seems to be leaning back a bit. He's a dick if he actually gained significant weight over the offseason after signing that contract.

Eduardo A. Encina

#Orioles are very close to a finalizing a one-year deal with IF Everth Cabrera, according to an industry source. Has 99 steals last 3 yrs.

Well that should be interesting.

Of course, whether he ever plays for the O's depends on his pending case regarding his misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest and his DUI while possessing marijuana(his trial is April 13, and he faces a year in prison). Not to mention his injury history. Is it a wonder nobody signed him?

orioles can't keep all three of Flaherty, Cabrera or Schoop can they??

Kind of a shame that we didn't pick up Cabrera. I mean $2.5 million to get a middle infielder of his quality, would have been a steal.

We really don't have anyone good at second now, and we're a black hole at short if the oft-injured Reyes goes down. Yet, Baltimore who doesn't even have room for him scoops him up.

I assume it must be because we're pretty confident on getting Olivera. There's no other logical reason.
