RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ewww throwing money and games down the toilet
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ewww throwing money and games down the toilet How do you know what the $$ is? please no He's a fine depth right-handed reliever.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 How do you know what the $$ is? He's a fine depth right-handed reliever. Yeah if he's cheap (and I imagine he will be) I'm all for it. He's fine as a middle reliever.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 But that ERA...AL East...whatever else is the usual BS we hear from those that don't bother to look closely at the numbers.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 How do you know what the $$ is? He's a fine depth right-handed reliever. He's an innings eaten RP. I like this low cost sign
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 He got non-tendered with a $3.9M arbitration estimate. He should be very cheap. Sorry, not non-tendered. He got DFA'd before the tender deadline. The Dodgers non-tendered him though after a replacement level 2013.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 Guess its a minor league deal, and thus, not very thread worthy...but given the halt this offseason has grinded to in Bluejayland, at least its something. Listening to the PTS interview last night, and how AA talked about the remaining relievers, i think they've spent all they will spend. Could be a smart thing in terms of relief arms. Belisario at the minimum COULD give us what a Janssen would give at 3.5m. Or not. Cecil, Sanchez, Loup, Belisario, Redmond, Jenkins, Delabar?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I know i am beating a horse to death but the guy can get ground balls at will and for what will be a low cost signing for middle relief that is a big plus in our bandbox.

Expect it to be a minor-league deal. #Jays #QuantumLeap If it's a minor league deal, then I don't see an issue with it. One of him or Lopez should be able to contribute.

I was gonna bash on you hurl but then I read the rest of your sentence FIP looks good. He'll come cheap. It'll definitely destroy the Jays overall attractiveness metric, though.

We are looking at a middle infield of izturis and Reyes You want ground balls?

That should play well with the Gold Glover at short.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 We are looking at a middle infield of izturis and Reyes You want ground balls? lol
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 We are looking at a middle infield of izturis and Reyes You want ground balls? Ideally better middle infielders however better chance of keeping the ball in the yard if its on the ground.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 We are looking at a middle infield of izturis and Reyes You want ground balls? You must be a huge fan of the Estrada trade. Flyball pitcher with Saunders and Pompey in the outfield.
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 We are looking at a middle infield of izturis and Reyes You want ground balls? What's the alternative - a flyball pitcher in the Rogers Centre? It's a lose-lose. Prima facie, no skill set really fits the park/team any better.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 You must be a huge fan of the Estrada trade. Flyball pitcher with Saunders and Pompey in the outfield. You're missing the point. When you have a s***** defense on the infield you can't find a niche in ground ball relievers. You need to pay for k's.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 We are looking at a middle infield of izturis and Reyes You want ground balls? I absolutely read that last line in Mallory Archer's voice...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 We are looking at a middle infield of izturis and Reyes You want ground balls? and this guy........... Shi Davidi #BlueJays sign infielder Ramon Santiago to minor-league deal. Comes into camp for a look. OPS of .667 in 75 games for #Reds last year
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Jim Bowden Belisario deal will pay him 1.7m if he makes team
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Santiago is going to save us from Belisario's excessive groundball-itis.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 and this guy........... Shi Davidi #BlueJays sign infielder Ramon Santiago to minor-league deal. Comes into camp for a look. OPS of .667 in 75 games for #Reds last year Minor league deals for days!
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 He did have a couple good seasons maybe he can bounce back, really scrapping the barrel though. Bullpen might cost this team a lot of wins, better pray injuries are light on this team this year.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Of that group of arms the Jays could build something good. Steve Delabar Ronald Belisario Preston Guilmet Juan Pablo Oramas Matt West Wilton Lopez Gregory Infante Ryan Tepera
Governator Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Don't sweat it guys, the core group will defer some of their own money to sign Shields.
