TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I still remember when Molina and Hutch both exploded out of nowhere and started shooting up the charts and through the minors. Where everyone was pre-occupied by the "Lansing Three", they forced people to notice them. It's crazy how different their trajectories have been since then.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 That's right, I forgot about those lists. I think I threw a Dan Haren comp on him back then (although I wouldn't now). I think I have them all saved but I won't post them because of my Deck McGuire love
Governator Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I'm just not use to seeing pitchers that the Blue Jays drafted succeed at the major league level. So yea.

Guzman, Clancy, Hentgen, Key, Stieb, Halladay? I have only seen Halladay pitch but the list isn't that bad. If a certain someone didn't let his ex-gf get to him he could have been on that list.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 So yea my point... 1 success story in the past 20 years. Marcum, Janssen. They're not stars but they're definitely success stories.
Governator Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Marcum, Janssen. They're not stars but they're definitely success stories. Forgot about Marcum, we got a couple good years out of him. I was referring to SP, as a lot who bust turn relief role (like Cecil), or completely lose everything like Romero.

The Lansing Three would have been a year later no? Unless you're just referring to those three guys and not the season they all shared at one point. Still I wasn't around Jays message boards of the past so I wouldn't know the perception but I would have thought Alvarez had the most exposure and hype that year with coming up and being pretty successful.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I used to love watching Marcum pitch. It was a coupe getting Lawrie for him, but he was fun.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I dont think Jays fans are high enough on Hutchison. You hear Stro, Sanchez, Norris...and further off Osuna and Hoffman, but I feel that Hutchison didn't have a chance to become a top prospect and be recognized by the Baseball America's and BP and Keith Law prospect lists of the world. The Jays were so confident in his makeup and composure, on top of his stuff, that the called him up when he only had 6 starts above A-ball (and only 16 above low A). Had he not been pushed so aggressively through the organization, and had time to continue to put up high k rates in AA and eventually AAA, he wouldve started shooting up the prospect lists, the Jays fanbase wouldve "pined" for his callup. You dont hear it often, but he can be an #1 guy or 1A, and I look for him to breakout this year. Great post He is under appreciated by many

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 + Lawrie + Donaldson if you think about it
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 + Donaldson if you think about it Marcum just keeps on giving to the Jays. Not so much to anybody else.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 not as high on Hutch as some others.... see him more as a Jim Clancy type, solid #3 did not see dominance to Stroman level to warrant a 1 or 2 tag

A solid #3 at league minimum is a very valuable asset.

That's a solid ballplayer, I don't think many think of him as a 1 or 2.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Since we don't have a ace or two, 3 threes is still better then two fives!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Since we don't have a ace or two, 3 threes is still better then two fives! 3*3 = 9 5*2 = 10 Lol but even though we don't have a real elite starter, Stroman is probably close enough that it doesn't matter, imo.

Whats up man...I started posting here about a year ago or so when ESPN shut theirs down.
