I think it depends on whether AA is willing to settle for a lesser return. It really seems like he'd rather keep him than just dump the salary and spend it elsewhere (which most of us would be fine with).

it would be nice to shore up a weakness on the team by dealing Navarro now but maybe the trade will have to wait until during the season? .... a starting catcher somewhere will get hurt ... (and what if it's Martin who goes on the shelf?)

When it comes to Navarro it's hard to get a lesser return lol. He's a replacement-level catcher.
