He's not very good at it, and should get himself a new hobby.

I hope to factor in next year into the worst poster category.

Don't bother I have that on lock

Like hell you do, I've been laying the ground work since I got here. I have all the necessary criteria

- Poor user name

- Spanky's ignore list

- Calling Mark Buehrle Burly

- Suggesting nothing constructive while at the same time always criticizing every move the franchise makes

- 100% of my posts are negative

- Bumping threads just when the discussion is over to get my final say

- Making spelling errors that I cuold correct but choosing not to take the extra second to do so.

I got this

My favorite RealAccountant interaction, from the "forum award winners" thread.

Turn in your Internet Detective badge and sidearm immediately.

And do something about your avatar, that's absolutely disgusting. Nobody wants to see dudes posting shirtless from their beds but you, apparently.

Just to illustrate how advanced stats are not the be all end all, said player in my scenario was Julio Tehran of the Braves. Alot of posters on the Braves site thought he was going to be a bust after that repeat year in AAA and his early MLB numbers. People talk a ton about Sanchez' K-rate/ Swingstrike % being low, but he almost exclusively throws fastballs right now. He has better pure stuff than Julio, who is a pretty fine pitcher for the Braves. Im in the camp of holding on to Sanchez to see if he can learn to "pitch" with his amazing stuff.

What you aren't mentioning is that Teheran had 144 great innings in AAA as a 20 year old. and that his 21 year old season was one where he was fighting shoulder stiffness. Also Teheran would have returned the Braves a shitload in trade.

Sanchez's swinging strike rates issues go throughout his minor leagues too. He's got a lot of red flags, which makes trading him a solid risk. No one has anointed him a complete bust, but I for one think it's very possible it will happen. The Jays are in a win now situation, and probably won't be patient if Sanchez struggles as a starter. And him struggling as a starter will drive down his trade value. Him thriving in the pen...not exactly sure what that does. I watched probably 15 minor league starts from Sanchez, there are moments he wows me...and a lot of moments where I just shake my head.

Extreme groundball pitchers CAN get away with low swinging strike rates. Go look at Derek Lowe who throughout his long career consistently posted low swinging strike rates, low strikeout rates, etc. It is an anomaly because very few pitchers have the ability to throw a fastball that induces such poor contact, but it absolutely IS possible.

i did mention it in another post, I still think the Jays should wait and see with Sanchez. Gamble? yes, but his s*** is just too nasty to not let it play out and see if he develops his ability to "pitch" with said s***

I agree, sure it's a gamble but the payoff is worth the risk. Plus, worst case we end up with a very good relief pitcher.

Worst case is we end up with another Kyle Drabek. His floor isn't useful reliever.

Reyes

Martin

JoeyBats

EE

Donaldson

Saunders

Smoak

Toritani

Pompey

That looks about right.

Derek Lowe never had issues with walking people though.

Kyle Drabek also has a similar profile to Sanchez: GB pticher, very little SwStk% and trouble with walks.

Exercise caution here.

Prime Derek Lowe induced about 2-2.5% more swinging strikes over 200+ inning seasons than Sanchez did as a reliever this year. Derek Lowe was a lot less hittable than Aaron Sanchez looks to be.

I think a big part of the Martin signing was to get the most out of our high upside young guys. If Sanchez stays, I'm excited to see what Martin can do with him, whatever his role.

Sanchez is just a GB specialist right now. Mark Buehrle gets more guys to swing and miss.

LOL.. So f***ing what. WTF is wrong with a pitcher who can induce a ton of weak contact? Is it because it involves a defensive play to record the out versus the strikeout?

Mariano Rivera struck out less than a batter per inning ( 8.22K / 9) in his career. What a comp pick type mess he turned out to be. You syber guys are just too f***ing much sometimes.

Whenever I read one of your posts it's always the voice of Oscar from Corner Gas that's narrating it inside my head.

Please don't quote Gruber. Thx.

Beat it Friedman lover. It'll be funny watching you jump ship this coming season, and don't bother trying to weasel yourself back on the Jays' train either.

Did you just throw a Mariano Rivera comp on Sanchez? Wat?

Stop being a manipulating little stooge. A reliever can have a long successful career by averaging less than a K per inning.

I could be wrong but I think he meant he doesn't get guys swinging enough to be a successful starter. might be mistaken though

If i knew who that was or what show that is,then i could accurately counter. Therefore, i'll assume Jerry Springer also amuses you.
