SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Not really liking this move at all. Started out hot with the Twins but cooled off dramatically throughout the year. Re-signing Colby makes more sense. Colabello, 31, owns a .214/.284/.364 slash over 401 plate appearances across the last two seasons with Minnesota. Source: http://www.MLBTradeRumors.com
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Buffalo depth more than anything.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 More of AA's revolving door of waiver claims. Don't care too much, will either end up released by spring training or will agree to a minor league deal. Chances of him occupying a 40 man roster spot by spring are minimal.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He's 31. The definition of journeyman. Plan A is that he never sees a day in a Jays uniform.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Collabello is REALLY bad lol. It's hard to produce much as a first base type with a 30.9% K% and 57.3% GB%. You'd have to hit pretty much every fly ball out and Collabello doesn't.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 AA gearing up for a Buffalo championship season

You can only blame the home ball park so much for power numbers...but fact is...those numbers will get you out regardless of where you play. Target Field, Yankee Stadium...the moon.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 We've got a bunch of 40 man spots, still room for the rule 5 and some bullpen arms, nothing important here, as long as he's got options (does he?)
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He was crushing everything in the gaps in April wonder what happend. Pretty sure he was among the league leaders in RBI and Doubles early on. He had a big series against us. He was the Twins team leader in RBIs when they sent him down, I remember it being a story. "How could they demote their RBI King?!"
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Not a MLB player. Has he been DFA'd yet?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 It's appropriate that the Bisons are the ones most most excited about this move.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Not a MLB player. I like your conviction, you remind me of Paul Beeston. "in the next five years, I’d expect that we would be (in the playoffs) two-to-three times."
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 This definitely needed its own thread.

LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Hopefully Donaldson has been speaking with Shields recently too. Why Chris Colabello and Josh Donaldson are having a "con call" in the first place is what I don't understand.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Depth move. Will hit in the middle of the Bison's order. I like the fact AA is conscious of keeping the Buffalo people happy while adding depth. Having our AAA affiliate in Buffalo is more important than some may think.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He's a great story though. 7 years dominating the Can-Am League with his hometown team before getting a chance to play in AA and he hit there too (and even better in AAA) The good news for the Jays is that he plays LF, RF, 1B and even 3B...the bad is that he plays them all poorly.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He'll be DFAd at some point and snuck through waivers to Buffalo. Nothing to see here.

It would be like if you made a really good post out of the blue and then people expected it in the future. Not reasonable.
