TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 A few years ago, someone from here was there hitting up the job fair. Just curious who it was and wanted an update on your burgeoning MLB FO career... He became an evil lawyer for the Oil and Gas drillers of Houston...then put more Republicans into the House of Representatives via Wyoming and now is a less evil Lawyer in Tulowitzki country. He's also known as Terminator around these parts.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 This would be pretty cool, but I think I'd rather just keep Reddick. is Reddick a fit though? we would have too many OF again maybe KC send a prospect Oak way to even it up some
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 I'm at the point where I don't even want to post links to anything Elliott writes anymore, but for the nothing that it's worth, he says the Royals would want Norris in a deal for Holland.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Lol'd. I love the commitment to trolling O's fans.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Summary from Gibby's meet with the Media: - Hopes the Jays add a couple relievers and/or a proven closer. If they don't, mentioned Cecil as possible closer. - He's not sure there's a 2nd base upgrade out there, does like lineup as is. Likes Martin in the 2nd spot in the order. - Plans to stretch out Sanchez in spring training to be a starter, depending on pen needs, can be moved to relief. - Reyes may get a few more days off this season to preserve his body. - Pillar still in consideration for CF. Not handing the job to anyone (Pompey). - AA (prior to Gibby's session with the media) said things are just starting to pick up, he's slated to meet people, nothing close right now.

Well, in all honestly, not allowing an employee to interview for a promotion is a dick move. Yes, he's under contract. But so are coaches all over the majors that are allowed to interview for managing positions, and other FO staff like scouting directors etc being allowed to interview for GM positions. It's just a dick move to intentionally stall someone's career if you know for a fact they have the opportunity to move up with another organization.

"We're not handing the keys to anyone" #BlueJays Actually, everyone should be counting Pillar out of the CF battle. If he wins it that means Pompey is either dead or in jail.
jerb Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Mike Wilner Verified account @Wilnerness590 Gibby more cautious than AA in talking about Izturis' potential contributions in '15. Also leaning towards starting Travis in AAA. #Bluejays

Makes sense, asking price, he's been elite, I'd never pay that, it's dumn focusing on guys like this.

jerb Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Mike Wilner Verified account @Wilnerness590 AA - scenario certainly exists in which Norris blows doors off in Dunedin, wins rotation spot, Sanchez is the closer. #Bluejays #Jays
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Would osuna get the royals attention for holland? Obviously Norris is untouchable I think Osuna's too much, he's a failed starter turned reliever, surely the Jays have guys like this, or cheaper options.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Actually, everyone should be counting Pillar out of the CF battle. If he wins it that means Pompey is either dead or in jail. Yeah, Pillar is terrible and I don't think he has any potential to be a good hitter. But I'll be surprised if both Pompey and Izturis/Goins are the starters on opening day. Ideally they could get a better 4th OFer, someone who can not be a black hole if/when Pompey needs to be sent down. Rajai Davis was perfect for this role. Eric Young has been mentioned in rumors. Hasn't played much CF but I believe he is at least capable.

Agreed, as hurl pointed out it's a posture move to get something back for DD.

At least for the season, but those guys are far away still. Too bad Stilson was hurt along with a name that escapes me at the moment.

I don't hate him as a 4th OF.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Because the Rangers are going to give up dozens of years of team control of cheap young talent for a year of Upton. Wow @ that offer lol
