I always really enjoy listening to Brunt as he comes off as he knows what he talks about at least when talking baseball compared to the other guys on that panel.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 No ********,(from me) but McCown is in tight with the Beast. Just saying... McCown is great radio personality, but he has no inside info ever, he just speculates which is what he is paid to do Believe me, Elliot and McCown know, they're just told what to leak...ole skool cigar smoking drunks, know what's what.

Brunt knows his s***, there's very few that know anything in T-Dot, he does, sorta, lol.
CrackerJack Verified Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 McCown is great radio personality, but he has no inside info ever, he just speculates which is what he is paid to do well, with respect to the Beeston issue, the two of them have a friendship going back to year one of the Blue Jays and so if anybody in the media could get anything out of Paul it would be McCown.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 well, with respect to the Beeston issue, the two of them have a friendship going back to year one of the Blue Jays and so if anybody in the media could get anything out of Paul it would be McCown. McCown/Elliot and Blair, the Cigar Smoking, Brandy drinking club, it was broken up for a while.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Hoffman has a chance to be one of the best prospects in Jays history

Although when you look at the National Baseball Media you could say the same kind of. Ken is good then theres the schmucks like Olney, Morosi, Bowden etc..

Everyone else is hit or miss. Guys like Olney are terrible.

Can't stand it when he uses lower case letters for players names when breaking news too.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I wouldn't lump Morisi in there cause Kenny Ken and J.P , bounce s*** off each other. They do, and I used to think Morosenthal were essentially the same thing, but I learned over the past week or so that Morosi is garbage. Rosenthal is a far better reporter, even though they're pretty much joined at the god damn hip.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Stoeten "If they did that people should protest outside the stadium," Brunt says of the idea of dealing Hoffman for Duquette. No s***, Sherlock. I hate Beeston as much as anybody, but trading a top prospect to a division rival for Dan f***ing Duquette would immediately ruin all of the goodwill from this offseason. At this point, I'm ready for the Jays to look elsewhere for someone we can just hire without giving up assets. Angelos can have fun with his disgruntled GM who wants nothing to do with his joke of a franchise.

I used to like him when he did interviews for the fan590 but recently his articles have been garbage.
subatomic Verified Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Stoeten "If they did that people should protest outside the stadium," Brunt says of the idea of dealing Hoffman for Duquette. You mean protesting outside Camden Yards? Hoffman is 22 hasn't pitched in the minors yet. Might not pitch in the minors this year. Doesn't have impressive college numbers. Wasn't drafted out of high school. Keith Law says he isn't a top 100 prospect. Hoffman is damaged goods without anything to back up his high draft pick other than he throws hard. And that was pre-surgery. The number of pitchers who are busts with Hoffman' profile are quite high. You aren't going to get DD with someone like Hoffman. Maybe if he is a throw in to a quality major leaguer or a can't miss prospect. Anyway the Blue Jays are an embarrassment. I can tell you people around baseball are upset about the way they are handling the situation from the tampering to letting Beeston and AA dangle in the wind. I am guessing if the Orioles hadn't got a court order for the new commissioners emails and Beeston hadn't opposed him none of this would be allowed to be going on. I would suspect the rest of the owners are going to get upset if this continues. No one wants other teams poaching their GM's under contract. And who is brokering this deal for DD? None of the baseball people could be doing it if it is a success they are out of jobs.
subatomic Verified Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Congratulations on your team's truly immense success over the last three years. You scraped into the playoffs in 2012 with a wild card and the lowest run differential among playoff teams and then got beat in the first round by your "MFY"s, and you won the division in a year where everyone else was down in 2014, and got cleanly swept by Kansas City shortly after. Your team hasn't touched a pennant in over 30 years, and despite what the size of your egos would indicate, no, two unimpressive fluke-like playoff berths in the last three years don't compensate for your club's spectacularly atrocious play in the years leading up to it, and an incredibly mediocre three decades. And while there's nothing more embarrassing than fans of two bad teams throwing s*** at each other, we can take solace in knowing that the Jays look like the superior team between the two leading into the coming season, and for the foreseeable future. Enjoy rooting for a ball club that is run by a GM that wants nothing to do with it. I am guessing you would be tickled pink if the Blue Jays ever got to the post-season. Two times in three years is better than no times in 23 years. I mean even before the last 3 years the Orioles had been to the playoffs more recently than the Blue Jays. I was going to say the "Blue Jays" are as bad as the "Other bad team" in other league but actually the only team as bad in sports as the Blue Jays are the "Washington Generals" of Harlem Globetrotters fame.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Holy s*** imagine going through life with that You mean being the greatest pitching coach of all-time? Pole began his coaching career in the Cubs' minor league system in 1983, and joined their Major League coaching staff in 1988, working as pitching coach for Don Zimmer. Pole remained in that capacity through 1991, during which time he oversaw the development of Greg Maddux. Maddux credits Pole as a major influence, and a significant contributor to his success. In a 2005 interview, he said, "I remember when Dick Pole told me one day, 'Why don't you stop trying to strike guys out? Just try to get them out, and you'll probably strike out just as many guys, if not more. He was right. I've always tried with two strikes just to make a pitch and get the guy out. You get a lot of strikeouts just on accident.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 When exactly was the last time the Orioles won the World Series? Cause, you know, no one is really going to remember (or care for that matter) who the Royals mopped the floor with in the ALCS Cal Ripken was just starting his streak lol
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 The Orioles will fold sooner or later, just need to wait them out.

Maybe if he is a throw in to a quality major leaguer or a can't miss prospect. Delusional. Orioles fans apparently haven't realized that there's plenty of other people out there who can do Beeston's job and we wouldn't have to trade any assets at all to hire them. You have no leverage and you're stuck with a GM who no longer wants to be anywhere near your franchise. Again, good luck with that. Anyway the Blue Jays are an embarrassment. Peter Angelos still owns your franchise... need I say more. The Orioles are more well-known for making up or exaggerating injuries during physicals in order to weasel out of free agent offers when Angelos gets cold feet than for anything they do on the field. I can tell you people around baseball are upset about the way they are handling the situation from the tampering to letting Beeston and AA dangle in the wind. Your ass isn't a valid source.
