Hell f***ing no to Hoffman. I'd rather give Cito the job.

I hate this just as much as anyone but i don't want that f*** to be let out of his broom closet.

Hey guys this kind of feels like the Dickey trade when all of the smart Blue Jays fans were like "lol no way they'll get d'Arnaud AND Syndergaard, maybe JPA and an arm" but then the worst case ontario happened

Wait a second, Hoffman isn't even eligible to be traded yet, except as a PTBNL.

Duquette for Norris + PTBNL (Hoffman)

Yeah it would be DoubleD for a ptbnl. Trea Turner was already dealt.

Dan Duquette was almost out of baseball. Sorry, but I'm not giving up Hoffman for a suit. #BlueJays

Jonah Birenbaum

Blue Jays will not include Jeff Hoffman as compensation for Dan Duquette, according to a source. This source is common sense.

If Duquette stays there could be tampering allegations raised by #Orioles against #Bluejays. Another reason Tor could expedite things

Jays Fans: Ha, that's another surgery for Hoff...we f***ed them on this one. Didn't like him in college, didn't like the pick. But with that said, he has value, and probably really good value (beyond the $3M we already paid him) so in that way it's bad. As much as Beest being gone pleases me, although brought out back of the RC and shot was the way I pictured it...this is probably the highest compensation for an executive ever. Can't like that.

Ed Rogers is the point man on this. Probably doesn't know who Jeff Hoffman is...

I have a hard time believing that any corporate guy, no matter their stature, could make a transaction involving a player without baseball ops being consulted.

If that ever happened, there would be a complete internal shitshow (well, if there isn't already...).

In 4 years.

Jays Fans: "Damn. We can't score a single run in this 4 games series.. Bundy, Harvey, Hoffman and Gaussman killed us"

Can't agree with that. I can't see any way that AA isn't involved in this and providing his take on which assets should be a flat out 'no' and which ones can be discussed as possible compensation. As much as Ed Rogers probably doesn't know Jeff Hoffman from the hole in his ass, he has to have enough sense to know that assets need to be managed properly and you need to use your high end resources (AA, scouts, etc) to make the best possible decisions for your organization.

I just can't see Hoffman, or anyone else of significance, being involved.

AA probably doesn't want DD to come over in the first place because he knows his job is most likely gone and if it isn't, DD still has final say on baseball operations.

Could be olney pushing his own agenda. I remember him writing an article of how executives should be worth premier prospects. With that said though I'm still terrified at the thought of what this FO is capable of.

that's the scary thing. I think Rogers could allow this to happen

Orioleshangout chimes in on the Hoffman rumour:

Call me "greedy," but I would want more of a sure thing for Duquette after seeing how he turned around this franchise.

I wouldn't part with the guy for anything less than a package of Sanchez/Norris and a player like Devon Travis (though Pompey would be nice).

The O's organization already has enough "top pitching prospects" with injury concerns who may end up being disappointments. If Duquette goes to the Jays, you want him to immediately regret being stuck with a depleted farm system.

What an exercise in degeneracy that entire website is.

The secret call.

Duquette: "Hi Alex. You should persuade Rogers to not trade Hoffman for me. Under any circumstance"

AA: "Sure. I'll try my best"

Duquette: "If Hoffman is traded to the Orioles for me, fired you will be my first move as Jays president"

AA: "How about Smoral or Osuna"

Duquette: "Our relationship is getting bad"

Alex probably does give a little input about what not to deal but in the end this is Rogers decision and if AA does not like it he does not get to make the decision.

No matter what happens, anyone who sees Ed Rogers should just punch him in the face or kick him in the balls. This moron is the one who started this entire mess and lets pray he doesn't actually give up a legit prospect.

Of course it's Rogers decision, but you'd like to think that people should not be making big decisions that aren't qualified to make them. Ie. Rogers can certainly decide which executive he'd like to target as the new CEO as he can speak that language...however, in terms of player compensation...he should not be making decisions without a huge amount in input from the people that actually know the value of these assets.

Your right they should not. But my confidence in Rogers decision making is very low and just a hunch if they want a person they really won't care about someone they have not heard of.
