Would love to see them sign an ace like Shields or trade for Hamels, but I would be afraid at what Hamels would cost them.

Also, Lowrie would be great at second, or maybe take a chance on Everth Cabrera.

Pitching. I would hate to have built this lineup only to have a bull pen collapse like the Tigers last year. I don't expect to get a high end starter that we need but a 4/5 is needed and Christ our BP is weak.

Free agents too. Save the trade pieces for some deadline upgrades

Medlen isn't expected to pitch till June or July. Neshek is expected to get 5 mil per. Have no idea what Crain,s health is. But I would sign all those guys

Absolutely not in the fools' gold that is relief pitching, that's for sure. We need a bonafide starter. Lester pls.

Who do you have in the pen?

A starter is a no brainer, pitching wins, we are not going to win in the playoffs if we get there with this staff currently. A top end rotation guy would tip the balance imo,

You mean dickey, buehrle, stro won't take us to the promise land?

The jays should make a trade for one or two relievers because the cost in assets wouldn't be that high most likely and they could probably get players with cheaper salaries than from the free agent market. The jays could trade Navaro for one bullpen arm and either sign someone 3m or less or give up a non elite prospect or 2 for one.

Then the jays could use their extra cash for an ace and/or Lowrie.

Value of having an ace in Toronto would be less than having one in Tampa or Kansas for example b/c he would be backed by higher run support. In a lot of these games, the run support could more than easily be enough for a replacement level pitcher to win the game in Toronto (b/c of the crazy OBP driven offence) as opposed to in mediocre offence teams and the money will be better spent on factors that could contribute everyday like defence and the bullpen (ASSUMING there's a budget).

You're a certified idiot troll.

did 1993 not happened?? Did you f***ing erase a year??? That is scary s***. Erasing reality is a sign of a serious personality disorder. I hope you are getting psychiatric help so you don't hurt anybody.

Pat Hentgen 112 era + was NOTHING going into the season. Stroman or even Sanchez could equal or surpass him.

Juan Guzman 109 era + walked 100 -- Dickey could do this.

Dave Stewart - old and not to much

Todd Stottlemyer - s***

Jack morris - shittier

REALITY 1993 - Jays starters are s*** and have 4.63 era.

OLD SKOOL - I AM GOD. I DEFINE REALITY. f*** THE WORLD. STARTERS! STARTERS! STARTERS!

p.s. I'd be happier if we got another starter. Mike Trout would help more. Just hate these "only one way to win and it's my way idiots"

I doubt there is money to spend. Knowing this organization they probably save money just to keep up with their real salary expectations.

This does not make sense whatsoever, save money to keep up with salaries. That isn't saving

I don't trust Sanchez yet and I don't think the Jays can afford to trust him in the rotation to start the season. It doesn't have to be Lester, but getting another starter would be very helpful.

I would say 2B, starter, and bullpen in that order would be the needs. I think there is a lot of potential value in free agency for relievers so I'm not too worried about that spot.

You're the idiot, this is not 1993 nor do we have an offense near that good, nor will be be lucky enough to face teams with the same crap staff the Jays faced that year. One exception does not a rule make, that is logical fallacy. Scoring was also way higher then then it is now.

Did I say there was only one way to win?? And you call me the idiot? As this team currently is, a started or more pitching is the way to go, the offense is already very good. Learn to read. Look at all the Ws teams since 93...most had top flight pitching, and an ace. Jays 93 are not the norm, we won't have a team that consistently hits like that, we don't have olerud, Alomar, Molitor all hitting .330 +. Injuries are almost guaranteed to the staff, and we have a tonne of question marks and need bullpen as well. It is not just starting pitching we need, bullpen is a thing bro.

we need to get two legit relievers for sure

then go get at the least a bounce back candidate like beachy, medlin, billingsley, masterson, ogando

but if possible volquez or liriano on a 2-3 year deal would be very nice
