I really think Happy is going to have a really good year and would have been a good starter for us this year. That being said, the trade saves us money and Saunders will be fun to watch. Needed someone over there who could play some defense. I think there will be a lot of casuals complaining by the end of the year though about Happy doing so well and that we traded him. Need to get some ST so we can put him out of mind.

No... just no. Smoak is not that good of a hitter. He's not even top 6 in this lineup.

what is the point of "breaking up righties" when smoak is worse at hitting right handed pitchers than any of those righties?

With Pitching which would you guys do for about the same money

 

5 years of Lester for $26 million per OR 7 years Scherzer at $28 million per. Instant shut down Ace of the staff.

 

OR

 

Both Andrew Miller and David Robertson for a combined 5 years $26 million. Set-up and Closer tandem would be the best in baseball with Cecil and Loup as a pretty lethal 7th inning tandem.

 

Lester.

We need a quality lefty in the rotation, aside from MB

Not sure if he would play for Toronto.

But 26mill per for 5 years.. That's a lot of dough.

Probably to get Donaldson Abs vs LHP where he is elite. I think Saunders would probably be the better guy to be moved up in the lineup though. (If you were to slide Donaldson to 6th and put a LHH at 5)

Saunders' been on Sportsnet for 15 minutes, saying that him and his wife always felt that if they were ever to be traded, they'd want it to be to Toronto.

Haha true. But when you think about it, we really don't need Morneau. The offence is damn good as-is, and Osuna is more important to this team. Plus Morneau costs more money which would cut into our James Shields/Jon Lester funds

Not to late to move Estrada surely some teams view him as a starter. Maybe we can package him with Navarro and get a decent return.

 

Not sure you want to move that SP depth unless you can sign another starter.

Always saw him more of a prospect guy. But if he doesn't like someone for whatever reason he really doesn't like them. For example he s*** on Travis while many others love him. Law called him a nothing prospect. Hes also famous for calling Bautista a flash in the pan and should trade him for whatever you can get now back in 2010. He went on the radio week after week with Bob McCowan s***ing on Bautista while his numbers kept going up. Law is never on PTS anymore. And he use to be on the show a couple times a week.

 

That's because TSN radio is a thing now. ESPN guys don't go on Sportsnet

Man, I'm having a lot of schadenfreude-fuelled fun reading the Mariners' fans thread about this trade. I haven't interacted with M's fans much in the past, but these guys over at LookoutLanding seem both pretty classy and pretty witty, despite being furious about the trade. Most of them are wishing that Saunders rakes in Toronto just so he can rub it in Jack Z's face.

If you're confused, the first and third instances of "bird" in that sentence are in reference to Saunders, who's known endearingly to M's fans by the nickname "The Condor", which is a form of vulture or some s*** like that.
