burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Maybe we can package him in a trade or something. Pay half the salary maybe I would ship him off with Navarro for just salary relief if it came to that. I feel like the team wanting Navarro doesn't want to pay his full salary and that is why a trade hasn't happened yet. Navarro really doesn't have a place on this team even as a backup.
fireballW Verified Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I like the defense that Goins brings. Fair enough but you should still wait to make sure Izturis isn't going to make the team before cutting him. What if Goins gets injured in spring training? There is no benefit to dropping him for at least a couple months.

I think most teams that need a catcher wouldn't really have a problem with his salary.
ineedsheet Verified Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 (edited) I said that the switch is beneficial for really s***** 9 hitters right in the post? The numbers don't really benefit AL teams, and the switch should only be used for below average hitting pitchers i think you failed to contextualize the idea behind the concept. imo you are right for the most part, but in certain situations it's different. for instance, a "poor hitter" is a very relative term. yes to a team like the mets, bartolo colon is so bad he should probably be batting 8th. but really, isn't a hitter like goins' relative offense vs the rest of the BLUE JAYS offense similar to a pitcher in the AL? jays line up is really really good, probably the best in baseball. goins is really really bad. for a polarized team like the jays (where several of their hitters are VERY good and a few are VERY bad), goins is essentially a pitcher relative to the rest of the lineup despite probably being better than the average hitting pitcher in this scenario, i dont think its simply "yes and no" for the 8/9 swap. i think there is an argument to be made for our worst hitter to hit 8th, as i feel he will be significantly worse than our 8th best hitter. note i am not really taking a side on either side of this issue, just noting that it is worth discussing and not simply dismissing like you seem to be doing Edited December 4, 2014 by ineedsheet

LH has no chance, though I immediately dig the Smoak-Valencia platoon. I somehow keep forgetting about Danny in all of this.

Saunders actually hit LHP pretty well last year. His splits are pretty even. I'd rather have him playing everyday until he shows that he can't hit LHP

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Just like Donaldson can still hit Righties fine. I definitely don't want him hitting 7th
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Sounds like parenting and baseball are not your thing. Sounds like you don't have children. Not surprising, I doubt any female would be willing to spread her legs for you, much less allow you to father their babies. I'm sure the closest thing you've had to sexual relations in the past three to four years was gliding the barrel end of a Louisville Slugger inside your rectum, and I'm sorry to tell you the ensuing bowel movement forced through pine tar does not count as child birth so you remain desperate and alone in your studio apartment or your parents' basement, I'm not sure which. Maybe you could tell everyone here what my first name is in real life. Of course, that's an empty request because you can't. You literally don't know the first thing about me but I bet I could tell you a whole lot about yourself, you chronic masturbator, you. People like you pay for a ticket to a Jays game but end up paying more attention to the bimbo cheerleaders dancing on top of the dugout between innings, all of whom will play a sick role in your evening sessions with the hand cream and the box of tissues for the next week. Reality is you probably don't even have a chance with the fat chick in the non-flattering "Blue Jays, '92 World Series Champs" sweater with the ketchup stains on it deep throating a ballpark frank and reaching for her extra large Pepsi. For someone with a name like "ScientificReason" you might try accumulating evidence of some sort before making grand assumptions about someone's personal life based on a casual post on a baseball message board.

It was a joke LMAO. Take some pills and calm down, and yes I do have children. get a grip man. Your argument was I dont know anything about you, then you go on to make stuff up about me...you don;t know nothing about me either herp derp. You sound mentally unstable dude, unplug. No one wants to read this garbage on here.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 People shouldn't bring parenting to the BJMB. Leave that s*** out. Guys can handle personal attacks (well, sometimes) but don't bring someone's children into the equation.

LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 JugglingPitches existed before Moogy did I believe. His name is in honour of JPA. Ahh, nevertheless could be a former account. Pretty convenient when an "old" account shows up after someone gets banned.

This all started because he said Martin should bat 9th and I told him that idea is beyond retarded. Then he started with the crazy insults and s*** went downhill. Mods should look through this thread and see some of his posts

I wouldn't discount the distinct possibility that he could have a back issue. It wouldn't be the first time the Jays traded for damaged goods. Sirotka, Reyes and Santos come to mind.

Lordie, that looks pretty lovely to this chap. I'd like to have Martin in a 5 or 6 spot for a bit less wear and tear, but I can't think of a better way to slot it myself. Looking forward to seeing what both of the Safeco refugees can bring. They should both be motivated. Nationalism, one year deals, and the chance to play in this lineup, at RC for half of your games...hopefully a perfect storm for those two.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Yep looks decent. On nights where the bottom third can give you a couple hits.. The top two thirds will have a field day. My only concern now is all 3 of your power guys bat from the right side. Not sure how much of a problem it's going to be but when you can have Joey Ed and Donaldson in the same lineup guess you just have to live with it.

The gif that stands out for me is Smoak. Dude has massive power. If he can put it together a bit more, cut down the strikeouts and make better contact, he could be pretty good. Either way, we have alot of 20+ homerun guys, and possibly a few that could hit 30+ and maybe even 40.

This organisation (AA mostly) did a great job of getting Bautista and EE. 3rd time would be a charm though. If Smoak could take off it would really be huge. Here's hoping.
