baseballsss Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I read the first 3 pages of this and came to the conculsion that jonn is a retard. I had a few schoons and shots to this trade. f***in eh!
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Yes I'm an idiot because I'm thinking long term. Obviously this is very shocking. I'm a huge believer in Lawrie. I like this trade A LOT. I was also a big fan of Lawrie but he pissed me off so much with is dumb moves and he wasn't learning from them, kept on saying that he would do the same all over again. And uncontrolled childish behavior on the bench showed is immaturity. Then is constant trips on the DL kind of did it for me. Good luck Brett, hellllooooo Josh and welcome to Toronto. This is going to be an exciting season me thinks.

Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 please trade Reyes for a bag of balls no ...
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I don't think fans realize how good Donaldson is in terms of helpimg teams win. I mean did anyone think Lawrie was going to stay healthy anyways..both Graveman and Nolin are at best bottom of the rotation starters
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Watch Lawrie take off.. The only place Lawrie is taking off is to the redbull rehab clinic. Lawrie's potentiol does not equal a Donaldson off year
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Author Posted November 29, 2014 The only place Lawrie is taking off is to the redbull rehab clinic. Lawrie's potentiol does not equal a Donaldson off year Graveman+Nolin 3.5 to 4 wins next season at Coliseum. Barreto top- 50 prospect 2015, and Lawrie 3 to 3.5 wins 120 games. Fair deal!
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 So this team looks insane. Look who is back on board. Welcome back
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Graveman+Nolin 3.5 to 4 wins next season at Coliseum. Its posts like these that make me wonder if you actually watch Jays games. Some of us have seen the two pitch, and let me tell you. Man they aint got much. I'd take Liam Hendricks over the two,

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 We got JOSH DONALDSON?!?! omg omg omg omg OMG
Statman Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 This trade is surreal. In what world do you get a premier, top 5 player overall in baseball who is still young, has a cheap contract, stays healthy and is under control for 4 years without having to give up a an elite player/prospect(s) in return. The only thing elite about Lawries game is his defense. The Jays are getting a superstar. Unbelievable! AA for executive of the year!
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 We got JOSH DONALDSON?!?! omg omg omg omg OMG I know...the guys a f***in STUD! Love this deal.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Yeah, I'm not saying it's the reason. But some A's fan seem to think so. From Athletics Club: There's more on the mlb official forum. If there's any truth to it (being a reason for the trade)... the ownership is pretty stupid IMO. (Edit) Posts from the MLB forum: Josh Reddick would actually be a pretty nice fit for this team.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Josh Reddick would actually be a pretty nice fit for this team. Hey GD did you hear? We got JOSH FREAKING DONALDSON!!!!!!!!! Like FOR REAL!!

Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Some pretty pissed off people over in the A's Forum. LoL
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I think that there is a possibility that the turf had something to do with Lawrie being off injured. If he does stay healthy than I can see him being an above average 3B which is a great buy for Athletics
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Dont know if im doing this right but i think this is Donaldson's misses. Not bad i must say.
bluebird Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 if lawrie stays healthy beanie could win
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 "Yan Gomes all over again. Fire Anthopulos right now" Never. Read. The. Comments. Where did this happen. Can we ban that person from life?
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I will miss Lawrie, but if he reaches his ceiling and has no injuries, he will be Donaldson. In return for taking away that risk we gave up depth pieces in Graveman and Nolin, who's biggest value were as trade chips. Using those chips in a trade for Donaldson is very fine with me. Barreto is tough but he is 18. He could end up making this a great trade for the A's but given his age, I dont think you DONT make this trade because you want to hold on to him. On the flip side, Donaldson is about the same age Reyes was when we acquired him, and look how much he's dropped off, especially defensively, but even offensively, we haven't gotten the elite offensive SS we expected. I feel we have to temper excitement because there definitely is a risk that Donaldson declines like Reyes and we do not get the 6-8 win guy he's been the past 2 seasons.
mitchf Verified Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 All I can say is wow, Alex made a really shrewd deal. My initial thought when I saw the proposed deal with Graveman and Lawrie was, "Which of Sanchez or Norris are going with them?". For the life of me I can't understand how there was meaningful trade discussion between Beane and Alex regarding Donaldson that didn't include Stroman, Sanchez, Norris or Hutchison. Also, does Oakland put any emphasis on club control? It sure as hell doesn't seem like it based on their recent run of form. I'm going to go hockey here for a minute and bring up the Phaneuf deal because this is exactly what it feels like. Calgary traded Phaneuf to Toronto because Toronto came calling and supposedly blew them away with the amount of players they were willing to include in the deal. Had Billy stepped back for a minute and talked with other teams regarding Donaldson, I don't think it's crazy to assume that by the end of the day Lawrie would've looked much less enticing as the centerpiece of the deal. Now on the flip side, if Donaldson becomes a weakened version of the guy we saw in Oakland, I sure as hell won't be surprised. That's usually what happens here in Toronto.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I will miss Lawrie, but if he reaches his ceiling and has no injuries, he will be Donaldson. No he will still fall short. Lawrie doesn't have the power or the plate discipline.
