xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I think the right course of action is to resign Melky. He fits in very well with this batting lineup. Let's say Melky or Tomas for the same AAV but Tomas requires a 6-7 year deal, who would you rather then?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 Let's say Melky or Tomas for the same AAV but Tomas requires a 6-7 year deal, who would you rather then? Tomas easily.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Tomas easily. Can you please forward that to AA then please, I know you have pull, you have 15k+ posts. AA needs to recognize.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I'm unsure if Bruce was because of the shifts or injury that he had such a down year. He's as pull happy as Jose once was. I'd rather have Bruce than Cabrerra, and I'd rather have Tomas over both.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Tomas easily. how much better will he be defensively than melk man?
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Dexter Fowler 28.8 years old 2013 2.1WAR, 2014 1.4WAR, Steamer project 2015 1.8WAR huge negative defence last year.... I assume it was CF defence - hope there is an improvement for LF
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I'm fine with Saunders or Fowler in LF honestly. I would take a gamble on Bruce, but not for one of our young pitchers. If Melky came on a 3 year deal I'd take him as well. Guy is only 30 so I don't know why people think he is going to fall off a cliff in the short term. Bad D, good O for the next few years.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Author Posted November 25, 2014 how much better will he be defensively than melk man? No one can be worse than Melky in the OF. From what little I saw of Tomas, and scouting reports, the Cuban might be an impact hitter (ALA Abreu, Puig, Soler)
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Melky was not that bad
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Melky was not that bad On D? Yes, he was... He's very much a negative fielder at what is arguably the easiest position in baseball.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 On D? Yes, he was... He's very much a negative fielder at what is arguably the easiest position in baseball. Yeah I guess your you are right but he always looked like he made great plays
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Yeah I guess your you are right but he always looked like he made great plays Which are pretty routine for most outfielders.....
GNick49 Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Cincy going to want to move salary so young player going other way. I wouldn't move Sanchez or Stroman. A lot of outfielders being shopped besides Bruce. Upton, Kemp, Ethier to name a few. NL outfielder last one we brought in suppose to be all that, Rasmus was terribly overrated.

Stroman is already worth more than any player on their roster IMO only
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Trading Sanchez for Bruce would be a mistake. Bruce has power, but he strikesout a ton, struggles to get on base, sucks against lefties, and is an odd fit in LF. Trading Lind for Estrada and than Sanchez for Bruce would break my heart.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I'm not sure I'd say Bruce sucks against lefties. Career .723 OPS against them...mostly based on slg, but still lefty on left a >.700 OPS could be worse. I'm largely in the camp that thinks Bruce had a random bad year, and based on his history and age he'll probably rebound quite a bit.

Ironically he has on the AL East teams on there Yanks, Red Sox, Rays, Jays...... You would think he would want to get into some of them hitter friendly parks.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 In the next CBA they should get rid of no trade lists. Either full no trade clause or nothing. Players union always talk of owners collusion, this is player collusion in a way. Not a fair level playing field for teams.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Don't see this posted but apparently Jays are one of 8 teams on Bruce's no-trade list: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/jays-among-eight-teams-on-bruces-no-trade-list/. He can still certainly waive that, but take it for what its worth. Scroll up 4 posts lol
