Seems inevitable. Only has one good pitch. How can he be a starter with one good pitch?

One good pitch? His curveball has been dominant. He has a promising changeup as well that he hasn't had to use.

Sanchez will be a starter next season, I don't know why this keeps being brought up.

You don't know any more than anyone else. That's why it keeps being brought up.

Oh I know he will be a starter. Case closed.

Yeah 3 walks in 21.2 innings. I see your point.

Thats control not command, Command is hitting the glove without the catcher having to move an inch

one would think that if someone had command they'd have control and vice versa

Yeah but he said command in reference to Sanchez, Sanchez doesn't have command he's shown good control

Give me a break. You don't need to command every pitch when your have the velocity and movement that he has. He has to control the strike zone and he's done so thus far in the bigs.

I never ever cheer against the Jays but sjf makes me want to cheer against Sanchez so bad

I guess I should've said 'he should be a starter next season'. We'll see what happens.

Control just means you can hit the strike zone but not quality strikes consistently on the edges and exactly where you want it, which is command. So if you have commad, by definition you have control, but you can have control without command.

As a starter though, you certainly want command because he won't be throwing 98 all game long. Yes, throwing 98 with movement will be enough to get guys out in 1-2 innings as a potentially great reliever, but to succeed as a starter he'll have to go through the lineup 3 times minimum and guys will be able to lay off once they see his stuff a few times if he doesn't have good command. But then, that's where his secondary pitches have to come into play also.

Well, duh ... on the "if you have command, you have control" portion of that. Unless, for some inexplicable reason, you only try to throw balls, instead of strikes.

But, yeah, you can, over a long period of time, have trouble hitting your spots, but still be tossing it over the plate. That's how you get lit the eff up, actually. That's control without command. Unless you just have the super awesomest stuff everer. Or if teams are only allowed to see you for 3 or 4 batters a game, after facing Dickey and Buehrle's Eephus pitches.

Haven't you heard? Sanchez has HOF-type stuff.

Yes, he absolutely should be. No reason to put a kid in the pen unless he's failed as a starter, which he hasn't yet.

I just don't want to go back to the days of the revolving closers like koch accardo Batista Gregg

lol so you want to throw a potential top of the line starter in at closer. That's very smart. Stupid dodgers not sure why they don't put Kershaw in at closer. They'd never have to worry about blowing a game.

Why would we waste our sAAviour as a closer? Starter!

lol, you finally found a way to get out of defending AA

clever

Sanchez will almost certainly fail as a starter, i'd rather not go thru those 5 starts where he gets shelled only to learn that he's a reliever.

Oh, I didn't know he'd fail as a starter yet. Thanks for sharing this and yeah I guess you're right, since he is going to for sure fail we should leave him in the pen.

A guy who can't get swings and misses on his curveball and a guy who doesn't have great command of his fastball is not a TOR starter

he has failed as a starter, incase you forgot. I should have said, he will continue to fail as a starter in the big leagues.

Yes I know, I just totally forgot about him failing.

Thank you again.

Uh ok.. last time he threw one it was hammered. Haven't seen one since.

His curveball is sitting at 4.79 runs above average standardized per 100 pitches. That is an absolutely elite pitch value. His fastball is at 2.37.

those stats are less than worthless in a 20 inning sample size
