This. And it's totally justified too. As bad as he was, he probably feels like the Jays treated him like s*** near the end of his tenure.

It's like he was with an ugly fat chick (the Jays) and tried to find any redeemable qualities he could when she (reporters) asked him to compliment her.

Now that the fat chick has dumped him, he has free reign to talk as much s*** as he wants about her.

Except there's 29 other fat chicks he was selling his services to this offseason, how they feel about his character/discretion isn't paramount but it's certainly a factor.

It doesn't show terrible character though, does it? As much as his character has taken a hit from all the Tony Rasmus stuff, the LaRussa drama and whatever else is already out there, I really doubt this'll make any difference at all. He's not really throwing anyone under the bus. He said the turf was s*** and it is. He can be bitter and upset about how his time with the Jays ended and nobody other than Jays fans is gonna care. There's no issue of "discretion" here, he hasn't revealed any juicy clubhouse secrets (yawn) and he hasn't taken any personal shots at any of the players or the team itself.

He said just enough to irritate fans of the Jays, and not nearly enough to irritate anybody else. Well played on his part.

There are only two teams that play on turf so basically he doesn't want to play for the Rays or the Jays. Not exactly a big deal. The larger issue might be the excuse-making but even that's pretty understandable. He'd want to give his new team a reason to think he'll bounce back and he more than likely sincerely believes that he will benefit from no longer playing on turf.

And chance that Romero surprises this spring? I know he had knee surgery in June, and there was talk he might have the other one worked on. Anyone know anything? It's his last year, maybe he'll be motivated to be something in ST.

I think it rather unlikely at this point, but I will be curious to see just the same. Maybe the Jays even try putting him in the pen. Perhaps the reduced strain on his knees from that will help, who knows.

I am starting to think they may sign Shields once they have the DD mess sorted out (and he's the Jays CEO).

I would be extremely surprised to see such a significant signing. More likely one of the bullpen guys they've been linked too signs.

Got this from a Facebook group I'm in. Can't find a source or anything on Twitter. Can one of the guys that have less important lives than myself, do a little research.

"The beef in the locker room for blue jays was melky with a unknown player..the unknown player had a party n melky didnt show up and it was the start to the problems in the Locker room..the player is still on the team, wonder who it is?"

Who cares? As little importance as all this clubhouse garbage already has, it's made even less significant with the fact that Melky is now gone. Maybe ask TMZ.

wonder who it is?

A big baby from the sound of things. I can't believe something so trivial, something so positively grade school level could cause one the reportedly biggest clubhouse rifts in Jays history. I mean where they going out or something? Otherwise, who giffffs a fawk?

I'm not an expert, but one would think a conflict would arise because someone showed up to a party and caused havoc rather than not showing up altogether. So dumn

While I don't know if the clubhouse "drama" had anything to due with how much the Jays wanted him back or effected their offer, I am happy to see him gone and replaced by Saunders.

Completely agree. Trivial! So, uh, you coming to my party this weekend King? If you don't, I'll block you!

A white dude for sure.

We still have a white dude on the team from last year?

As a starter, there's no chance barring a huge miracle. As a reliever, might be his best shot, but that's still asking a lot from a guy who hasn't been able to do well in the minors over the last two years.

IMO the Travis trade is a wash and the bottom 4 are unlikely to yield much of anything, but yeah, this offseason has been amazing.

I don't think the Travis trade is a wash. And maybe one or two of the bottom 4 turns into something, if we're lucky.

Definitely good acquisitions from an organizational perspective. MLB impact probably depends on other things going wrong but depth is never a bad thing.

How is Travis a wash? Gose is garbage, Detroit just wanted him because of there huge outfield. We also have a massive need at 2nd base.

AA has heavily implied that the Lind trade pretty much had to be done for the bigger moves that followed to happen. He's said on multiple occasions that one of the bigger appeals of the Donaldson move was to replace Lind's "middle-of-the-order" bat, so if moving Lind was the thing that pushed the Jays over the edge in giving up Maple Boy Wonder, or if the freed up salary made Martin's contract easier for them to stomach, then oh well. I don't mind kidding myself into believing that Lind was just an extension to A's trade, or that it was a three way, and the Jays ultimately gave up Lind, Lawrie, Nolin, Graveman and Barreto for Donaldson+Estrada.

Gose gave us 1.3 wins in 90 games last year and Travis has yet to play above AA. Gose isn't "garbage" in comparison to Travis.

Gose has 27% k rate and .318 babip the regression is coming when you can't put the ball in play. Also you can't play Gose against lefties. Travis has equal splits in the minors and is an everyday player. The only hope for Gose is if he cuts his swing down which he doesn't seem to want to do.

Gose is also out of options. It was a pretty good trade for us. Gose has value as a 4th OF/D Specialist/pinch runner. It's a nice skill set for a bench player, but getting a guy with starting potential who's controllable is a clear win, IMO. Edited by jays4life19
