TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 lol, I think Lawrie's probably kinda bitter about being traded away. Kinda weird timing for him to send this tweet so soon after they acquire Saunders. Probably makes him feel like them getting yet another Canadian will probably make the casuals miss him even less. Hilarious follow-up tweet from some random dude: And some other stuffs:
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 That sportsnet tweet is so pathetically disingenuous.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 lol, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Buck Martinez is pretty damn smart for an ancient commentator/70's porn star, when most guys with his age and background are traditionalist fossils. He always seems to give good interviews, and this latest one is no exception. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/7417714/v37011695/buck-martinez-talks-blue-jays-moves-on-hot-stove/?query=blue%2Bjays When the guys mention that the Jays have yet to address their pitching, he talks about how much the pitching will improve simply because of the Martin and Donaldson acquisitions. Mentions how he thinks Graveman is a sleeper, but how great it is that they kept Stroman, Hutchison, Norris, Sanchez and Osuna. He says that he believes the Rays have a great model of building bullpens, which is to get under the radar buy-low and bounce-back guys as opposed to spending on big ticket free agents. When talking about how right-heavy the lineup is, he says he's excited to see Justin Smoak, who he thinks is a big sleeper that, despite not having "put it all together" yet, still has a lot of potential, especially at the RC. "You have to address defense. The Blue Jays on the surface look like a good defensive team, but when you break down the defensive metrics, they were near the bottom defensively last year. Dalton Pompey should improve that in center, Russell Martin will certainly improve it behind the plate"
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Buck has to dumb down for the casual fans on the game broadcasts.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Buck has to dumb down for the casual fans on the game broadcasts. Its Day and Night with him. I hear all this "he use to be pretty damn good as a color alongside Shulman"
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Ban. Acceptable. Buck has to dumb down for the casual fans on the game broadcasts. I think he'd make a far better color guy. He's terrible on play-by-play.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Yo f*** all you haters! It's not Buck's fault that the Jays have been so s***** over the years that it's forced him to get stupid drunk during every game to get through.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I might be in the minority, but I liked when Devlin filled in for a few games.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I might be in the minority, but I liked when Devlin filled in for a few games. I thought Devlin was great doing baseball. I also like whenever Siddall steps in.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I thought Devlin was great doing baseball. I also like whenever Siddall steps in. agree. If those 2 were a tandem I think they would be one of the better broadcasts in all of baseball. That obviously would never happen because of the Raptors but still fun to dream. Even Sidall with Buck is pretty enjoyable to listen to.

He's earned that s***.
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I like Buck martinez (Runs and hides), if nothing else for the comedy he provides from all the mis-pronounced names. BOOOWtista.
fireballW Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I think AA will concentrate on the pitching now. I see the next addition as a bull pen piece.relievers are getting paid a ton now it seems. I liked Hochevar but Christ he got 5 mil. And may not be ready till May? June? If Sanchez starts we need 3 BP arms and nothing excites me in the rule 5 draft Right now Roy Halladay is out in his shed after seeing all the recent Jays' moves. He is throwing some baseballs and noticing his velocity is back up into the low 90s. In a couple days he'll call AA and ask if he can come play for 2 mil to have the chance to do what he always wanted - win in Toronto. He'll come in and pitch to about 1.15 WHIP and help lead our staff. Meanwhile Rogers will sell a ton of tickets and the MLB will sell about 10000 Halladay jerseys.

GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I wonder if AA might think of approaching KC for Greg Holland since he is slated to earn so much in Arb. Would give us a Andrew Miller on a 1 year commitment to shore up the pen.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Just listening to PTS and McCowan is saying that he knows for a fact that there were issues with Melky in the dressing room. Not sure I had heard that before....that said, if there is any truth to it then it certainly played into the Jays not necessarily getting hot and heavy to resign him. Thankfully AA hired a guy with no history of clubhouse blow-ups with players to manage the team then. We can only blame the players for perceived clubhouse issues because a guy like Gibbons would never stoop to that level.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Not everyone liked the Donaldson trade
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Not everyone liked the Donaldson trade Can people please stop posting the child exploitation videos? O.K. thanks.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Ugh. Anyone else calling ******** on this?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Ugh. Well whatever. This might have despaired me back in September but AA has done excellent work within the payroll parameters so far. Much better than in year's past. The team should be better on the field and that should translate well at the box office and make Rogers happy.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Ugh. Anyone else calling ******** on this? Based on free content for their TV stations alone, they're making money. Gate receipts have so little bearing on a team owned by a media empire. Also, the giant billboard in downtown Toronto has some value too.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 It's Friday night, where's the trade AA????????????????
