kgm1 Verified Member Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 TheHurl's been saying he'll be a Jay for sometime now. I could see it. Hurl has been suggesting Valbuena as a good option for the infield since last off season. Do the Cubs trade him? They have Arrieta, Wada, and Hendricks plus guys like Wood, Turner and Dobront . I suspect they will add better talent than Happ but I would do the deal if they took it.

They have $ so they'll probably only turn to Happ if a few free agent targets spurn them for some weird reason. Or, maybe maybe some analyst with Epstein's ear likes Happ's velocity uptick and thinks he's undervalued. Who knows. They had so much success with Jason Hammel last year that they will almost certainly sign another Hammel type in free agency.

The Cubs are more near to win a world Series than us.

Trading Valbuena might depend on whether they want to hold Bryant back to avoid super two status . The rumor I heard today was they wanted Hammel back and were targeting lester and him.

Imagine they did that and missed the playoffs by a game?

Most likely: A) Cubs Win WS Jays WIn WS C) Boxy Win Fantasy League D) AA sign big FA E) The air around Chernobyl back to being healthy.

kgm1 Verified Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Polanco slumped terribly, but Snider stepped in and did well. Polanco should shine though, who knows. Oh, or are you talking the year prior? This year Polonco was killing it in AAA and the Pirates were in dire need of an OF but refused to bring him up to avoid super two. He did fine then dropped off badly but Snider stepped up.

When Dickey pitches this could be the Jays lineup Reyes Gose Bautista Encarnacion Lawrie Smoak Thole Pillar Goins
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I am going to go out on a limb and say that we are going to overpay for Ass-Dribble.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Everyone wants to be paid. If a FA player gets a penny higher somewhere else, that's where they'll sign. Who the manager is, is almost completely irrelevant. Money will always win out. Always. I wonder if we could take advantage of a rich team desperate for pitching and offload Romero pitchers for basically free. Say we were to offer Graveman/Nolin (both?) + Happ + Romero to a team like the Angels for some minor leaguer. Would you guys do it? Hello! Would you guys mind taking ten minutes out of your day to enter the board's free agent prediction contest? Here: http://goo.gl/forms/2zOQbDEPgy Much appreciated.

So you want to give away a solid #5 in Happ, plus potential starters like Graveman/Nolin to shed Romero salary? no thanks. Starters don't grow on trees. There is a big demand for them

Chappy Community Moderator Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Money doesn't grow on tree's either and Rogers is cheap with cash. There is value added in using assets to free up more salary, especially dead weight like Romero's. Rogers is cheap with Cash? Guess 70 percent of the league needs new owners then if Rogers is considered cheap.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Yeah I don't see Mayberry coming back now that Lind is traded. Pillar is far more useful making the team, especially if Gose starts in CF.

Pillar is far more useful making the team, especially if Gose starts in CF. I'm 90% certain Pompey is on the team. The script is too marketable..... local boy, youth, good in interviews, and the defense and speed will make up for any struggles at the plate. The other thing this does is reduce the salary allocation to 117M - leaving plenty of room for a 2B or 3B, and a bullpen arm or two.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Pillar and mayberry in the same team it's not a good idea. Valencia can play 1B. Pillar 500K >> Mayberry ~2M
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Gose is out of options right? so I assume he automatically makes the team. Dirks is not gonna make the team over Pompey don't see

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 Gose is out of options right? so I assume he automatically makes the team. Dirks is not gonna make the team over Pompey don't see It makes sense to keep Pompey in AAA if they can. That way when someone goes down you have a proper backup. They really should add an OF though. Right now it's Bautista, and then a bunch of low-ceiling high-risk guys who might contribute if things go well. An Aoki would be great.
shortstop Verified Member Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Aoki! Miracle if the jays could get both Aoki & Russell. Jays should trade high $$ pitcher ie Buehrle, grab a 2nd baseman in the trade, eat some salary, and sign Aoki & Martin. But that's a pipe dream.
