I don't think the other mods would have merged your thread.

 

it was decided to keep it to one thread to keep everyone together and not have 10 different threads pop up every time something happens.

 

3 people have already started threads about the deal and all the info was already in the consolidated thread with people talking about it.

 

I'm following the lead of all the mods.

 

whine about it if you want, but enough with the bull s*** comments. you'll have live with it unless there is a new lead from all mods.

Kind of a weird return for the Sox, no?. Their window looks to be a few years away and there is basically zero chance they compete next year. There had to be a package out there with a few younger, more controllable pieces on the table for Lester.

Chavez. Chavez has been very good.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Jesse Chavez. But I was referring to their playoff rotation and he likely won't be a part of it.

Seems about right.

 

I was laying in bed last night and i think that the best thing the jays can do is add a 7-8 inning bullpen guy and then be done!

That is what I was thinking, Yoenis only has a 1 1/2 years left.

They must have plans to break the bank in FA next offseason if they made this trade. Makes no sense to take back just one year of Cespedes otherwise if there aren't more corresponding moves. The current roster just isn't good enough.

Yoenis in Fenway is going to generate some pretty gaudy numbers. They'll be able to unload him by the deadline next year and recoup some good prospects

Sox have had almost the entire offense have an off year. I dont think they will be as bad next year. Adding Cespedes gives them another very scary bat to negotiate.

I would be shocked if Beane went with an Outfield of Crisp/Burns/Reddick/Moss/Vogt. Crisp has injury concerns with his neck, Reddick has been trash and Burns is unproven.

Buck and Pat talked about that last night. They said that Henry has said that thinks they need to trade for position players and then buy all the pitching.

 

is there really enough pieces out there this winter to rebuild the entire pitching staff?

And if not Lester, someone close to his calibre via FA or trade. I don't see Cherrington sitting on his hands in the offseason.

 

The lineup is above league average too. Papi will lose some skill via age but we would expect Betts, Bradley and Boegarts will all progress naturally. They won't be a juggernaut but they'll be a 85ish true talent win team. That's good enough to compete if you get a bit of luck on your side.

It'll be 2/3 years now that they'll have been a ~70 win team. Almost their entire rotation will be gone, Uehara will likely walk.

 

It's going to be tough to rebuild this thing.
