prayforthejays Verified Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 lol...embarrassing for the organization. Rogers let's them spend money one off season and then freezes all spending the next season. what a joke
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 This is my problem with Rogers. They are not "all in". This leads to perpetual mediocrity Toronto is not a small market team. Yet they are being budgeted like one Please start the rebuild
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 A $140 budget is a small market budget? What is with you people?
baseballsss Verified Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Still not sure how it's Rogers fault. He gave AA the go a head to spend money and AA went hard like a kid in a candy store and spent everything without thinking a head to the future. He took on very dumb contracts. Not Rogers fault it's AA fault.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I wonder if they'd considering clearing out Buehrle if this is the case. AA is creative.

I remember a few months back some Rogers exec engaged some fans on twitter regarding spending. Anyone remember who that was? I'd like for him to get his twitter blown up regarding this, hopefully hear an explaination.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Stroman, Sanchez, Hutchison = 1.5M Reyes, Buehrle = 41M

mitchf Verified Member Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Who in their right mind would sign off on investing MORE money into this roster? It's a stupid thing to do.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 @elliottbaseball 12s Blue Jays telling teams in trade talks that they "can't take on any extrta money." Well we're f***ed
oakville69 Verified Member Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Who in their right mind would sign off on investing MORE money into this roster? It's a stupid thing to do. This is the closest the team has been to a pennant race since 2000. A race would keep tv ratings & attendance strong till October.
abola2121 Verified Member Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Guess this means we can't get perennial all-star Chase Headley.
mitchf Verified Member Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I don't understand this thread. The Jays have been nothing short of underwhelming and at times disastrous since this "2-3 year window" was created by Alex. The structure of the team is a poor and would be identified as exactly that by any objective baseball fan and to top it all off the team has already assembled a top 10 payroll in the league. If this wasn't going to cut it, adding ten million more surely won't either. You think the business people signing off on these decisions are telling themselves it's a good idea to add? We suck and will continue to suck until a new cycle of players and ideas come into the mix.

Adding payroll doesn't = being involved in the race. We'd have to spend this money wisely, which we wouldn't.

If ownership actually understands or believes that "we suck and will continue to suck until a new cycle of players and ideas come into the mix", why not clean house now? In fact, nevermind now, why didn't they clean house in the off season instead of wasting another year? My guess would be ownership don't know s*** and this franchise's problems start at the top.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 "Fire AA thread" Bump What was your prediction for the team in 2013 again?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 what was your prediction for the team in 2013 again? 83 w
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 83 w Should I link to it on the MLB board?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 "Fire AA thread" Bump Yep Went in to the season with a team everyone knew wasn't quite good enough. Stands pat because he overspent in one off season. Brutal

It was the fat greek that blew his load on Dickey Reyes and Bhurluwhateverthef*** Instead of signing Darvish.

Alex was failing, given a chance to prove he can evaluate talent, failed, given a chance to right the ship, failed. He'll be kicked out soon. Ownership sees what's happening, otherwise Alex would've traded for Chase Headley.
