GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 The Jays send Bautista to the Mets The Mets send David Wright, Steven Matz & Brandon Nimmo to the Jays. We get our 3B in Wright and slide Lawrie to 2B. Gose into Bautisa's slot in RF. The Mets get a cheaper star in return to soften the blow moving the face of the franchise but they have an option of extending Jose or getting out from under what he may garner in free agency. We get another young, stud SP in Matz and young exciting OF prospect along with Pompey to look forward to in Nimmo, at the expense of paying Wright handsomely for a bunch of years. Who says no? The Jays, the Mets, Wright, or everybody
baubau Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Don't think the Mets even consider Bautista for Wright, let alone add to it.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 Why would the Mets do this To make up for the raping we took on that 40 year old POS we took from them that everyone made excuses for.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Both. The Mets don't want to trade away their face of the franchise and don't think the trade lines up with their timeline. The Blue Jays see Wright as a downgrade from Bautista and don't want to take on his contract.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 The Beest says no first. This franchise is very sensitive to PR and trading Joey Bats would be a huge PR hit. (I also don't think it makes sense for the Mets, but they're not the team I follow). Also, couldn't the Jays get a pretty good package for Bautista without having to take on a bad contract if they were to deal him?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Probably everybody. Thing is, only the Mets would be smart to say no.

I'd really be interested to see what kind of packages teams would offer for either Bautista or EE. Can someone give some sort of estimate of what the Jays would be looking at?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Everyone says no, but Mets first since the Jays are gonna be the ones offering. The Mets are in a rebuild phase and they have no use for Bautista.
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 No surprise here, Bautista is getting severely underrated.
Convo Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 This makes no sense, I don't even know why this thread was made. All around dumb.
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Bautista is a top 10 batter in the league on an amazing deal. Definitely fair value
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 How bout Joey Batz, Francisco, Happ and Santos. For walker, franklin and Romero ?
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I would rather trade Bautista for just a package of prospects than try to rebuild the 2000s Mets that never won anything with Reyes and Wright.

Level with me, who were you on the old board? You seem to have a bone to pick with me. And from my memory I've never conversed with you as I know this account as Convo.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 After Jeter's retirement, Wright will be "Captain America"
xposbrad Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 The package sounds good, but the Mets are not in win now mode nor does it really make sense for them to do that. They would want younger, cheaper, more years of team control. He would need to go to a team like the Dodgers/Yanks/Angels/Tigers etc..
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I'd really be interested to see what kind of packages teams would offer for either Bautista or EE. Can someone give some sort of estimate of what the Jays would be looking at? We would get a massive haul considering the team friendly contracts and 2.5 years remaining on them, not to mention it's nearly impossible to trade for high end bats. If we ate some money (especially if we did), we'd probably get something pretty sweet for Reyes, Buehrle, and Dickey too. Honestly, the best thing for the team long term would be to trade them. If we didn't screw it up, it would probably set the organization up for a Rays style sustained run without the decade of last place finishes first. However, I totally understand wanting to win now too, and I think if we can avoid any more key injuries we have the team to potentially do so.

The Jays, the Mets, Wright, or everybody Give you props for throwing out a idea/punching bag on here Gibbers. I don't like it for a lot of the reasons mentioned and I think both teams would feel same for their own various reasons. I don't like Wrights contract. Id like to move Reyes to 2nd next year(or NYY if they are crazy and rich enough). His best days at SS are long gone.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 With there contracts a ton. The value of Jose and Edwins contracts for that production...is just stupid good in todays market.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 If the Jays continue this tailspin and the FO bangs it's head and realizes they should sell. Is SP-Jake Thompson of the Tigers a reasonable return/ask for Casey Janssen? More, less? No reason for the Jays to extend Janssen. And he's at the best time to sell....high. The Tigers need 'pen help and the farm in Detroit has taken a back seat to the immediate needs for awhile now. Stilson gets promoted to fill the void left by Janssen. Jays pen for 2015....come up with a couple of candidates let them fight for the closers job and go from there.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 LOL. This organization isn't going to sell anybody.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 LOL. This organization isn't going to sell anybody. If that turns out to be the case and assets who are leaving or past their prime (eg. Janssen & Rasmus) are extended for premium money or left to walk via free agency with nothing gained in return as a future piece, then I will be off the AA bandwagon. It would be a disservice to the organization by not gaining future assets by moving leaving vets or not crippling the team financially by giving Janssen or Rasmus free agent market value contracts when we have capable replacements on LG MIN contracts to take their places and allocate the money elsewhere. And if the Jays aren't looking at a playoff berth and they don't move a vet to a contender for a chance to win, Alex has done a disservice to the player for not giving them a chance to win. Simply unacceptable.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Trading Bautista or EE does not necessarily mean the season is lost. Either of those guys can get you a young talented SP and a near to MLB blue chip prospect (potential AS calibre). Players that can help now. Get younger and still compete? I'm in..... I dread the seasons to come if the Jays don't start moving some veterans for prospects.

Selling Edwin and/or Jose with those contracts now is insane when we are 3 games out imo in an AL East where we have a shot. This streak of chaos will end just like the euphoric stretch we had where we won on things like a walk off sac bunt. Our talent needs to start hitting and they will. They are proven producers. We weren't that good and we aren't this bad.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Lofty expectations for Norris. I consider Osuna a better pitching prospect than Sanchez or Norris and expect him in the rotation sometime in 2016. Off the wall prediction. I like it.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Off the wall prediction. I like it. Osuna back today with a clear inning with 2K's and a ground out.
