I haven't seen this mentioned and I don't know why.

I'd much rather have Kratz as our everyday catcher over Navarro. If he was allowed to play everyday I suspect he'd better at every single area of the game (except probably hitting for average). He hasn't really proven his offensive abilities in the majors during various short stints but his last 4+ years in the minors are quite good.

- Hitting for power and overall offense

- Throwing out runners

- Pitch-framing

- Game-calling

- Base-running/speed (minor upgrade, obviously)

This post is probably coming at a bad time given the good night Navarro had... nevertheless...

I prefer Kratz over Navarro. The latter's only calling card is his bat, and I think his game calling isn't as great as Bautista lauded it to be on day 1.

Ideally I would have both of them splitting catching duties, but we all know that is not possible with our resident knuckleballer.

I still think if given the chance to play everyday Kratz would out perform Navarro offensively.

I suppose dropping knuckleballs sounds appealing to you guys.

I thought Kratz looked pretty good catching him in spring but you never know i guess.

we need Navarro's clutch bat in the lineup as much as possible. his defense is not costing the Jays games but his offense is winning games...

Idk if that was his first time catching one but it looked promising. I just don't want him dropping a ball in a key situation considering Dickey puts a lot of runners on.

this is a joke right?

Navarro,s defense sucks but his bat has been decent . He is a backup catcher bat off the bench. Kratz while better defensively isn't a full time catcher and Thole is needed as long as we have Dickey. If Kratz caught the knuckle ball a lot in ST then I can see him being ok.

Kratz career wRC+ - 81

Navarro career wRC+ - 83

It'd be possible

Unlikely, but possible

Kratz's overall profile is far more valuable though

Kratz already had a 9.6 run edge over Navarro in framing and he's barely played. We're probably talking about a two win upgrade in a full season.

That difference is just way too big for Navarro to possibly overcome with the bat.
