Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Lawrie back in 7-10 sounds possible? Lind should be sooner? I read Lind was still feeling some discomfort. Lind appears to be further along, but still feels some discomfort in the foot, which means the Blue Jays aren't exactly sure when he'll be able to return. "Adam hit in a simulated game down there just to get some swings," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said. "He doesn't feel anything when he swings. He does feel it a little bit when he runs, when he has to run the bases and change direction and that can impact him in the field. "It's really going to come down to when that pain is gone when he has to run the bases, change directions and things like that. We don't know exactly when that's going to come, but at least in the meantime, at least we're able to let him hit, swing and try to get his timing back."

They'll definitely need rehab games.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 And yet so many people saying why improve the team our superstars are coming back They might not be back till September. Most sources say early August. Most likely they return vs. either Baltimore or Detroit.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 And yet so many people saying why improve the team our superstars are coming back They might not be back till September. the market is way over priced this year. I'm not sure what moves they can make without killing the team for the next couple of years. I think it's sink or swim with what the team controls now. Jays in May and after the break have been super patient at the plate and that is going to be what decides it for them. when they are smart offensively they win games and they lose when they go up hacking.

We're going to need an offense/defense boost when we start playing better teams.

Out since June 23 with a broken right index finger, Lawrie lined up at second base but he’ll rotate between there and the third base throughout a stint manager John Gibbons said is expected to last “at least a week.”

I think a week is unnecessary. Baltimore is playing some really amazing ball and we need all the help we can get for that series.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Does Franciso get sent down when Lind comes back? They seem to not be using him at 3rd anymore and is playing the role Lind would play.

I would think so yeah Valencia and Reimold are better bench options and we have to keep either Goins or Kawasaki for MIF plus Thole. And what about Gose? Seems here to stay. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Valencia platoon with Lind at 1st? Sure. Makes sense to me. That should be some killer production from that platoon. And Edwin plays every day of course.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Anyword on brett? Sportsnet, 4:45 PM today: The Toronto Blue Jays are still awaiting word on the status of Brett Lawrie’s sore back, but manager John Gibbons is hopeful his third baseman will avoid another stint on the disabled list. Lawrie underwent an MRI on Wednesday after leaving Tuesday’s 9-3 loss against the Baltimore Orioles with lower back tightness. It was the 24-year-old’s first game back in the lineup after being sidelined for about six weeks with a broken right index finger. “Something was grabbing at me the more I went about my business and what I was trying to do, it was like, ‘Alright, there’s something in there that’s bugging me, and I better take care of this before it gets serious,’” Lawrie said of his back after the game. “I don’t know what it’s going to be, this is my first game back, I really don’t want to make it permanent that I don’t get back. I really wanted to see what it is and get out of there and see what it was because it was alarming to myself.” Lawrie will not be in the lineup on Wednesday when the Blue Jays look to even their series against the Orioles.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Re Adam Lind: his rehab stint in Florida will begin tomorrow. Gibbons says returning Tuesday in Seattle is the hope.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 So in other words Lawrie is done for the season.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I don't know the diagnosis, since I'm not a doctor, and don't play one one http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com, but the one thing that scared me was MRI, which I dont think is something you often hear when it comes to a sore back. I am thinking, though, that after the Lind Mom incident, the Jays will get an MRI for anyone who farts hard for the rest of the season, so probably just general soreness and he's literally day to day.
