Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Lmao why? It's not like he was dominating the level.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 5.5 BB/9 Makes sense to me
flafson Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I guess they figured the best way to fix his problems is to make him walk through fire.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 His competition doesn't matter. He has the stuff to get any level of hitter out. It's just limiting the walks. Maybe they think the AAA coaching staff has a better chance of getting him to repeat his delivery and throw strikes than the AA coaching staff.

Plus isn't it nice that we actually have a Triple A club we can send pitching prospects too? Can you imagine Sanchez and his 3:1 GO/AO's in Vegas... scary.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 I'll definitely be going to Buffalo to catch a Bisons game when he starts.

AA > AAA AAA is a major league storage bin; tons of crappy veterans and injured players. If Sanchez can throw strikes and manage his stamina he can destroy AAA.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 5.5 BB/9 Makes sense to me They want Romero to coach him on walking batters. Best in the biz.

Failed major leaguers and veterans are gonna be tougher outs than 75% of AA batters who probably won't even advance past the level.

The top prospects in baseball almost always get the jump from AA to MLB.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Let's be honest - Sanchez' weakness right now is his control. I'm not sure there will be a difference in terms of competition for Sanchez in this regard. His stuff is good enough to get guys out in any of those pro leagues. Perhaps they want Sanchez in Buffalo so that he can get some extra coaching there or an easier time for LaCava to get extra looks. If anything, perhaps Sanchez will find Buffalo more difficult due to the plethora of AAAA guys who are willing to lay off that high fastball or slider in the dirt - something It could be a good learning experience, and Sanchez is still young. That being said, Norris > Sanchez and I wouldn't mind trading him away.
shortstop Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 maybe a potential trade partner said they wanna see him at Triple A to see how he performs...or maybe that sort of that doesn't go on behind the scenes b/w GM's...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Norris or Boyd or Cole to AA Boyd was destroyed, his mind is broken.

IMO he'll be promoted here soon as long as his ERA checks out.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 IMO he'll be promoted here soon as long as his ERA checks out. ...........and after 1.1IF he will be sent back to AAA.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Idk.. if you're old school you might see it as trying to boost the kid's confidence as he's been middling along since his last promotion. I know I prob sound like a grandpa but think if you were in his shoes and you get the call that you're going up... it would pump you up. Also another logical explanation would be that they're eager to try and get other coaches to fix his woes.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 All you Sanchez doubters will be put to shame when he's up here blowing batters away
flafson Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Does it mean he's starting today? Bisons site shows today's pitcher as TBD.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I think they were just waiting for a couple good starts in a row before moving him up. Maybe he's turning the corner, 14:3 K:BB in his last two starts 11.2 IP. His last start was June 8th, so that would be a bit of a quick turnaround for the next start.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 It still sends the wrong message throughout the org. Poor performance is rewarded with a promotion. I hope this move was done because of the aforementioned reasons of better coaching at the AAA level and not because they want him in the majors at some point this year. He is still 2 years away at least.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 On baseball central blair was talking about sanchez as possibly being showcased and then referred to daniel norris as a "throw in" in a potential sanchez trade. Lol
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 @bnicholsonsmith Aaron Sanchez could help #Jays this year, John Gibbons says on “You get an arm like that why can’t he help?" No, he can't

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Bring him up, let him sink or swim. 2014 cy young/ MVP ala Justin Verlander 2011

shortstop Verified Member Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 if this is to try to get him to the majors, ugh...that's just stupid...
