The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Is it just me or does Lind seem to have high statistics like ops+ and so on but nothing to show for it. It seems like he's the last guy you'd send up if you need a run in. Compare him to Francisco. Similar games and Plate appearances.

He has an OBP around like .500. Are you serious?

Seriously...of all people to go after Lind is mashing like 09 and RHP are getting killed by him. His leveraged stats are fine. He also had a great 2013. One of the few Jays. LHP-well that's another story. Although with the swing he has going this year he could probably hang in there.

He's being utlized absolutely perfectly. He'll still get 400AB. Might even be able to trade him for a decent arm if this keeps up. He's pretty freaking valuable. Dumb thread.

Candide Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 man, if he hit even .230/.300/.350 against lefties regularly, he'd probably be a perennial 5-5.5 WAR all-star DH. amirite?

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Read my post, he has fine ops+ but nothing to show for it. The stats don't lead to runs. Because he happens to have come up with fewer RISP than Francisco and hasn't hit as many home runs. Big deal. He's massacring right handed pitching all the time. Runs come when they come. He couldn't be doing much better...
The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 He just seems to hit when nobody is on

SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 ugh...Lind doesn't have the massive stats a.) because he doesn't play regularly and b.) he hits behind both Bautista and EE, meaning they're usually doing the majority of the driving in runs. Lind comes up and begins the cycle again. If Francisco was batting 5th and Lind 6th or 7th, you'd see the RBI offensive numbers in favor of Lind.
The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 All I'm getting at is I would love to trade Lind. I don't see the value of him and Francisco when we can't afford a starter.

He didn't give a f*** about OPS just about getting the job done. Get the f***ing job done. I don't care if the OPS is .700 or .900. And if it's .700 it's a more efficient way of doing the same job. Lind probably is playing for himself figuring he can get a shiny new contract from a sabr-gm.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 The stats don't lead to runs. He just seems to hit when nobody is on Account deleters.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Read my post, he has fine ops+ but nothing to show for it. The stats don't lead to runs. Stats don't lead to runs, rbis lead to runs. It is impossible to get an rbi without producing a run. Literally. If the score is 0-0 nobody has an rbi,. Take last nights game. Reyes tripled leading off thus padding his OPS but no runs were scored. Lind is even worse because for him the triple would be a double.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 lol he's playing for himself. Being a patient hitter, having good AB's, not giving away out, yea he's playing for himself. This is why the nerds freak out on people. It's one thing to not know what youre talking about, it's another to remain an ignorant know it all. Getting on base and not giving outs away leads to runs, but sure whatever you said
The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 There is an argument that the ops+ will lead to the runs. I just don't see it in Lind. I'd love to see his stats split between RISP and bases empty.

The_DH Verified Member Posted May 31, 2014 Author Posted May 31, 2014 If they are the same then maybe we need to drop him in the order to drive in some runs.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 There is an argument that the ops+ will lead to the runs. OPS has a .251 R^2 to runs scored since 2009 so it does have a role in creating runs, yes

Situation team hits for .700 OPS but .320 with runners in scoring position and steal bases and do sac flys. Have the stats guys really thought this out?

I'd love to see his stats split between RISP and bases empty. Here is another factor to consider. A lot of Pitchers pitch to the score. So Lind is probably padding his OPS in 6-0 games when a pitcher is willing to pitch to the score.
