TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 what have you done Sorry, I meant Voldemort. Rogers does not employ Stoeten. It's gotten to the point where suggesting they do is a meme. I dunno if you seriously think it's true. I didn't say they did. But he is employed by The Score, correct? And as far as I know, The Score is owned by Rogers. AA could totally have tempered expectations. His constant denial of comment in part led to the media shitstorm. After the bidding deadline passed he should have just held a press conference to tell people not to get their hopes too high. He's said this a little more than 46 million times.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Never at any point did I attempt to write-off the Jays or say they are not a contending team. I only stated facts to demonstrate the players who are struggling (and to vent/rage about it). This is getting ludicrous now. Take off your panties people. Yeah, you're right, at this point it's ludicrous. I don't agree with what you said but you didn't go anywhere near that far.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 What don't you agree with? He said these people are sucking. The end. You don't agree that they're sucking? I'm not rehashing the entire god damn debate, I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with the arbitrary date discussion. I have no interest in continuing anything with Convo either, as this is ridiculous. But your arguments with CHP are pretty funny. Not even the content, just to see the insults being hurled.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Ban everyone who has posted ITT You'd be banning about 10 accounts yet a maximum of 3 real people
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 LOL Holy f***, Gruber, FAA, CHP and Moogy going at it at once? Is this really happening? http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif http://i.gyazo.com/2998ccd82282eb184cb8e508df77a773.png I'm not "going at" anyone, except for CHP, since he's a smug homer and a prime example of the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 This is what is irksome. No accountability. Convo made an uncontroversial observation and series of statements. You flew off the handle and turned it into something it wasn't. And you were wrong, at that. You attacked it for something that it wasn't, nor did it appear to be. And then you walk away without saying you were sorry for misreading and acting like a child. While still somehow claiming you disagree with something that you can't disagree with. You can't say you agree with my comments, while saying you disagree with his ... Because I agree with his (and you can't disagree with his, and still be reasonable). What's irksome is you continually bringing this up again, but eh. He was using the samples he chose arbitrarily to say that the players mentioned have sucked this season. I said that you can't choose a 2 week sample to evaluate an entire season on. He then said he wasn't saying that the players sucked, only that the two week stretch sucked. I can't argue that any further, because if that's what he truly meant, great, but there isn't really a way of verifying exactly what he thought. Then, you said that you can't evaluate guys on two week stretches, but that doesn't mean that they didn't suck. I agree with that. So basically, the root of the problem is Convo either backtracked, or the rest of the board wasn't clear on what he was saying. Now, you're bringing this up once again, because of course. Whereas I think the rest of the board is done with this, as they minus 49, TL, etc, were as soon as it started, so we could probably get away with maybe ending this now without beating a dead horse any further.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Has anyone explained why Howard Butler is allowed to come back with his new accounts less than a few hours after his ban? I dunno if a mod has seen it yet.
StamafiaNeigeratsu Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 That guy sure is sneaky. Damn Howard Smedley! I'm not Howard Smedley. I Will bet my life and yours on it. Unless you can prove it, stop accusing.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I said nothing. lol, you technically never accused him of being the other account sneaky

wardhenke1 Verified Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I don't know if this should be in the rage thread, but any time I feel like throwing something through the screen I remember what this team's record truly is and instead become grateful that we had the month of May that we did have. This is essentially the same team that went 74-88 last season and started 12-15 in March and April and is now 8-9 in June. May was a wonderful, beautiful aberration that was never going to be sustainable and this is why I simply don't buy the notion that we are one elite pitcher/player away from contending for a world series. This is not 1992 or 1993 where a David Cone or a Ricky Henderson are going to push us over the top. Everything but May of 2014 tells us that. In my opinion we need 2 starting pitchers, a second baseman and some infield/outfield bench depth. That's a long way from a Price or a Shields fixing all our problems.

What matters is where we're heading, and at this rate, with how the entire team is playing, we're going downhill. Hutch has been inconsistent and unreliable. We do not know what we're going to get from Dickey or Stroman. Our relief corp is injured and ineffective. The defense has suddenly gone to s***. Francisco should not be playing, but he still can't make the routine plays. Tolly seemingly bobbles the ball and extends innings and pitching counts. The only thing this team has going forward is the offense. The offense can't be THIS bad. Although I did expect Francisco to regress a ton, I did not expect him to K 4 times a game all the time and swing at terrible pitches. He's pretty much a guaranteed out right now. I could feel OK about our performance if we got swept by the Yankees big-time starters. But we faced two scrubs and they pitched like seasoned veterans. We faced junkballers ever since the Cardinals series and we turned them into Cy Youngs. I'm not happy about that.

Hypothetical - Jays have exact same record but have a Puig or a few solid minor leaguers ready to fill in for banged up 30somethings Us - "We will be reasonable just like Stoeten and Wilner because it is year 5 and the hot prospects that AA and the superscouts have collected are ready to fill in for the injured and help us to the pennant!!!!!!" Reality - Jays are relying on Francisco and Tolleson. Us - "This isn't good!" f*** YOU STOETEN. f*** YOU WILNER. YOU LET US DOWN YOU BASTARDS! RAAAAGEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Convo Verified Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I don't believe this team has a chance - everyone keeps banking that they will 'progress to the mean' but the truth is the only reason they have this astounding record is because all things we're going right in May and Edwin and Francisco we're playing out of this world baseball.

Regarding the SP, yeah, I think it's important for AA and his army of scouts to really step up and make a decision on what they have. In reference to Stroman, Hutch, and Sanchez... I don't really care what the board opinion is because everyone was/is fapping to Hutch/Stroman/Sanchez or whatever but by year end (or much sooner) those same people could be saying "f***, wish we moved him when he could've"... although nothing is guaranteed the Jays have the most knowledge (more so than other teams) of what they have in these guys and hopefully AA makes the best possible decision regarding keeping them or acquiring a known mlb commodity like Shark.

There isn't an ounce of truth to what you say, but like any emotionally based opinion you won't be phased I'm sure. If you are writing off the Jays, then you should also write off Atlanta, Milwaukie, and Detroit who all suffered through equally bad stretches during this season. At one point all these teams had massive division leads, equal or bigger then Toronto had. The whole concept that you can ignore a hot month in analyzing a season is stupid. Every game counts. Players go hot and cold every year. But you know what, go ahead write off a first place team and PLEASE find another team to follow. We really don't need bandwagon fans who cry a river every time this team has a bad week. What happened to the idea that all people wanted was meaningful games for the Jays past May ?
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The term is "regression to the mean." We don't need to accommodate the morons who don't understand regression by coming up with a new term.

It's ok for ppl to have other opinions bro. I made my opinion known that I also don't like their chances. If I'm proven wrong though, I prefer that actually. I'd be happy. Also, I'm (and neither are many others) not the type that's going to track you down when/if they do choke and say "told you so homer"... we're just sharing opinions.
